totally agree, even though it looks like a 308 it's a totally different animal….that motor is probably the closest you can get to an F1 motor of the time…..I think 100 years from now we'll be known as yucky primitive people who burned fossil fuels…….it's undeniable EV is the way forward….similar sentiments probably occurred when the motor car replaced the horse after thousands of years… anyway..

I disagree. I think that in 100 years the attempted move from fossil fuel to electric will be seen as an irrational folly driven by some special interests. I suspect that we will be running something that has not yet been contemplated.

Mike (in both my bands) has a black 78ish Les Paul Custom that is also high mileage, so we'll be wielding a matching set.

For patch cables between pedals, I use the EBS flat cables. They've worked great so far.

My pic is what I use for bass to transmitters. I'm not sure what I have for my couple of pedals. They're flat. Probably Boss.

So true. All are tools to arrange data to communicate (via a "language"), a "thought" of some kind. I've yet to master any of them.

yeah consider the importance…… technically a mathematical concept (like differentiation for example) could potentially be explained using numbers alone but us humans aren't that smart and often need language as a learning tool…

I've been happy with Pig Hog cables. Maybe not "super high end" but they are quality units for a reasonable price

I'm pretty sure most of my cables are Pig Hog. They have thick insulation and are usually molded with strain relief around the jacks.

It's not a huge project for me.

The initial plan will be to refret, strip/tung oil the back of the neck, put on Hipshot tuners, Hipshot 3 point, make a pickguard and install the Decolas with 3 way selector and VVT. Pretty much a ratrod

If the headstock repair is solid, it will get the lacquer touched up. If not, I can deal with it.

I'm glad you're making use of the DeColas (that you snapped up right before I messaged the guy!). That wil be an extremely versatile bass with lots of tones if you tap them. If you don't, still a nice set of Alnico buckers. Looking forward to you getting it finished.

Digiflex. Irv turned me onto them. I've been using Whirlwind cables for ages and highly recommend them. Lifetime guarantee and I did use that once with no problem. I tried the Digiflex because I needed a right angle to right angle and Whirlwind didn't make that. Also a fan of them. I like the beefy Neutrik connectors.

yeah but as with everything, we throw money (displacement in this case) at everything till we come out on top….the Ferrari has a 2.8 liter motor where the AMX has a 6.4 liter motor……"no replacement for displacement" as they say…… in this case it was clearly my lack of an overdrive that settled the outcome…..

I don't have an inkling of what a brick shaped object like my Camaro will do once it's done. It should have in the neighborhood of 450 horsepower at the back wheels to go along with six forward speeds. It may get a little floaty at some point. It sure did at about 110 before I blew it up the last time. That was with decent bushings in the suspension. It didn't have any spoilers. I suspect that even the minimal ones from the '60s would have made a difference.

Wind resistance is an exponential thing, so once it takes over, it doesn't take long to soak up a whole lot of power. I'm not sure how aerodynamic an AMX is. It has a less than ideal frontal area, but the rest of the car looks like it could be pretty good.

I have likely spent more in strings over the years than I made playing. Without question spent more in amps or basses. Could get kind of depressing if you think of it like that. But when you throw in the value accrued from playing....priceless. Definitely an expensive way to have fun.

It's cheaper than anything that burns gasoline.
