I’m with you on that Mike.
I do like a good SS head.
But as far as tubes go.
I’d be happy with that Studio Bass head I posted.

I missed your post - do you mean a Fender Studio bass amp from the '80s? I've never played through one but I've heard they are great amps. 1x15 always works for me.

Yes!!! That one!!!

I wouldn’t know the year.
I just know I love its tone.
I’m so not versed on those amps.
But the one I recently posted for sale here in the classifieds.
The guy had the head moved into a MojoTone box.

The 'bestest' sound I've gotten recently has been through a pair of daisy chained Rumble 100s: 200(potential)watts through 2x12s-1 in each cab. Full and as loud as I'll ever need to be on my own and plenty for a soundie* to deal with-if we ever have soundies again.

*by coining the term "soundie", I don't hafta deal with being PC or gender specific :smug:. I'm too old for that [stuff].

Soundie is good - I'll have to use that. Bond Girl unfortunately were involved with a WCS version of this on a gig - out of our hands and blown completely out of proportion. Made our head spin - totally "SF"...

I was looking to buy one but my B15 appeared and that's all she wrote. 10 yrs ago...

It seems to me an audio spectrum analyzer on a phone/tablet will only be as accurate as the mic in the device, including any baked in signal processing. I guess you could connect a high quality mic with a flat response.
true but you would be doing relative, not absolute measurements…besides, the mic (you’d be surprised how flat their response is) is not always needed if that’s a concern..

Yeah, I remember that-and my feelings on it. It's not my job to figure what a person wants to be called. But it's their job to do their job.

It was surreal and absurd. We swore to never play there again because the management supported such lunacy. It's kind of a dump anyway, so no loss.

@JJR58
One of the “local” (couple hours away) darkglass dealers is also an Eich dealer. But the store is by appointment only and blah blah blah. Don’t have the darkglass amps in stock blah blah.
know guitarists that swear by those…didn’t know they had traction in the bass arena as well….

I owned-and stupidly sold-a 66 Gibson EB-3(that's what's in the video). Gibson/Epi can re-name them anything they want. To me they'll always be EB-0s(1 pup)/EB-3s(2 pup). So there. Nyah, nyah, nyah.;)

BTW, I'm not a Bowie fan(ducks projectiles). Only looked at video to see the bass: EB-3.
you didn’t dare say you liked Bowie in my Davie FLA HS days….strange..

It occurred to me the other day that the vast majority of my TalkBass posts are here, with the exception of occasional posts on the Phil Jones Bass amp thread, and those dealing with Fretless playing-

I attribute that to the camaraderie and uplifting fellowship I find here-

Yep. I probably post 10x as much here as all the other threads/clubs I'm in combined. And they're generally cool people, too (with overlap in some of the prolific members here). But none of them have the depth and breadth of camaraderie and uplifting fellowship. Never mind annual get togethers.
