Thunderbird Club

Who would’ve thunk that old EB-3 would be worth $$$!

Not ‘64 Thunderbird $$$ but still!

My '68 had a different bridge but pretty much the same otherwise. I stripped the cherry finish and had it professionally de-fretted in the mid '70s so it wouldn't be worth that kind of $.

I have a couple vintage basses with deep-profile "baseball bat" necks and they are not my favorites. (in feel) But the wide nut on my '66 P I like. My '68 Coral Deluxe Bass (Dano-made) has the same wide nut and a very flat D-profile neck and I love playing it. In my collection I have 20 fret, 21 fret, 22 fret and 24 fret necks of 34", 32" & 30" scale and have no problem playing any of them. My Teiscobird (Epi Goth neck) has a deep-ish profile but I like playing it. The Goth necks over the years have varying profiles from shallow to deep - probably due to being made in different factories in China & Indonesia.
My '64 Pbass is wide and flat. I don't mind playing anything if it sounds great, but I prefer the deeper/thicker necks than wide and flat on Pbasses. The '81 L1000 is unique and something between a P and a J, but more P than J. I like it.

I'll drink to that! Skoal!
I have. At the Snoopy World Hockey Tournament (yes there really is one) it is traditional to exchange gifts after the game. Typically, the gifts are towels with the team's logo or a logo shot glass filled with an adult beverage. One team always did Fireball. We commented behind their backs that they were just cheapskates as it is about the lowest cost liquor you can buy. But, you can bet the comments were only after we finished it all off.

Your L1000 sounds like a "modern" P profile (between a P & a J) nut width. My (G&L L2000 modified) CIC '51P RI neck has a 1-5/8" nut, a soft C profile and thin 'banjo' frets.

No doghouse?
That was the third set. I played the doghouse in the first set. I there's a video, I'll put it up. One of the spins ended with the body hitting the monitor right next to me. I didn't drop the bass, but I had to drop out for a moment because the bass didn't come all the way around. Note to self: make sure there's room next time.
