Ok, our school tuckshop and all milk bars when I was a kid used to sell Pineapple Doughnuts. Now I’m feeling nostalgic over a bloody doughnut!
But they seem to have disappeared and by the time my kids went to school they were no longer in tuck shops.

Anyway someone in LA reckon they make and sell an authentic recreation. A little far though…
I’m sure someone here must make them.

Baked are cake-like. If possible/rational, I would eat donuts at least once a day. That's one of the handful of things I could binge eat to the point of being sick.

I can live without the sprinkles. This is what is served in heaven every morning.

what are cake donuts and are they different to donuts?

Cake donuts are made from a batter leavened with baking powder or baking soda. They may be baked or fried, and are a denser donut like a heavy cake. Yeast donuts are leavened with yeast, are generally fried, and are lighter with more air than cake donuts. It’s a different experience eating cake vs yeast. And of course there is a lot of variation between bakeries.

The best donuts I ever had were made by an old (to a 14 y/o) black man ini Augusta, GA, in a little shop downtown. He had a big cauldron full of oil he cooked the donuts in. After that, It’s Krispy Kreme for me, then Round Rock Donuts.

Which I also attended.

I mean, you lucky dog! OK, I’m jealous. Rock and Roll Animal is a contender for best live album of all time for me. And that band with Alice had to be killer as well.

What 9v battery is everyone using for their active basses?

My only active was the Pro V, which I sold. So now I use the Not-a-battery. But id I played active basses, I’d use Duracells. I trust them.

I raised the pickups and put on a set of new Power Steels. I had to add some foam to the pickup cavities to get the pickups to feel solid. Liking the changes so far. Looking forward to seeing how the strings settle in.

Of all the strings I have tried with TB Plus pickups SIT Power Steels are easily the best, my only difference is that I use 45 - 105 gauge, hope you enjoy them!

None of them. All Krispy Kreme donuts are fried. They do make at least one cake donut, the blueberry donut (also fried). The cruller is made from yet another sort of dough - also fried.

From last night. And the sound isn't great and this is kinda long. I wouldn't move much, due to lack of space. If the first set gets on youtube you can all laugh at the upright spinning debacle that happened.


My shirt and bass matched, more or less. If I was Veronica, it would have absolutely been intentional. I am not Veronica, so it was a happy error.

This is pure dad band in action. The audience was happy. All 12 of them. We had more fun.

Excellent! You said she's moving to NYC? At 20 years old, she shouldn't have a hard time finding people to play with, especially with that talent. Not sure about other places, but it's a pretty ageist scene here. I was super lucky to find my band.

Nothing stupid about it. My left hand just doesn't get along with Jazz necks. It'll start to cramp up after about 60-70 mins. It always has. P necks on the other hand, I can play all night. That's part of the reason I got a 5 string bird.

And me the exact opposite(sorta-I've never even held a P). I went from a short, skinny neck(66Gibby EB-3)to a loong, skinny neck(67 NRTBird). Very little transition time. My shortish fingers and fattish necks do not get along.
