You know, Syracuse UT is on the way to Southern Ut/Mt Carmel from Seattle. Both of you would be welcome to stay at our house, which is 1 mile away from Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake, where the Buffalo and Antelope roam. Also not too far from Promotory Point which is of interest to railroad fans. Ogden has the the Union Station at the start of 25th (two bit) street (infamous during WW II and during Prohibition for underground activities). Park City is an hour drive. Just saying... Did you know Utah has 5 National Parks, only California has more. Open ended offer. Oh, and we are 15 minutes from the Hill AFB Air Museum. Snow Basin Ski Resort, 1/2 hour drive away, has Blues Brews and Barbeque with live bands on Sundays all Summer.

When I was 12 I had some money saved to from setting up and fixing swamp coolers and hit up a garage sale. I landed the best score of my life there. Got a ton of music gear, 1957 slingerland kit, bunch of old zildjian brass, Gibson 5x12, some solid state head and cab I don't remember, a 1950 something magnatone varsity deluxe tube amp, and a 4 channel Kasino PA for $260. On the way out I speed a 1986 Honda TRX 200 that was inoperable. Gave them a $100 for that. I got home and rebuilt the carburetor and attached a sprinkler riser to the pull start rope.

I rode that quad for 6 years, traded the magnatone for a Strat that traded for a US Taylor Acoustic, and restored the slingerland kit, sold the 5x12 for $200, rehearsed with the Kasino for years, and sold the random amp and cab for $100.

Here’s a test you can run…

Pick a pickup, turn its volume to max and turn the other pickup off.
Now turn the tone knob.
You’ll probably hear very little tone change and no volume change.
It’s as if the volume knob is bypassing the tone knob.

Now turn the tone knob on full bright and turn the pickup volume knob to 7.
Note the volume level.
With that pickup volume set at 7 turn the tone knob down to zero.
You’ll probably hear a significant drop in volume.
It’s as if the tone knob is overriding the volume knob.

I’d be very interested in your results, maybe you’ve got one that’s wired different or has different pots in it.

I play with a drummer who has a Slingerland kit like that. His is a '64 and is champagne sparkle instead of blue, but looks very similar otherwise. It has a ride cymbal mount on the kick drum like yours. His kit would sound a lot better with new heads and if he tuned it, but that is not how he operates.

Might be able to get Pino to fill in for you if you're getting too busy. :laugh: It would be a step down for the band, but they would survive.
