Thunderbird Club

My GMC does that if you remember to hold down the correct button. It does the same in winter with the heater.

Has that technology been around for a while? I could have used that when I lived through Chicago winters in the late '70s - '80s.

The JC pickup is low impedance, so it needs a transformer to match up to the amp input. The switch selects taps on the transformer, it's an impedance selector. To my ears it changes the tone and volume.

Just pop out the JC pickup by taking out the 4 trim screws to see the innards.
Switching impedance definitely impacts tone, just as switch capacitance would.

Got to play with the JC just now.

The stock pickup is very nice sounding. Tone dimed and switch at 500. Beautiful.

The Dark Stars earn their name. There is just something about the fullness of the sound of that hollow body. It certainly is going to be a top pick to play and an easy reach to first fret.

Love Darkstars - I positioned the (Curtis Novak) poles at the central location of my '64 II buckers for this passive Fenderbird. They are singles but I used 500k pots and a .047cap.

"It rocks" Gojira - he was exited to have a bass named after him. He asked "if it crushed" and I said ... "absolutely". :bassist:

@JIO ... Klaus Voorman is a 60's Bassist and he played with the Beatles too. He also designed the Revolver Album cover.
I saw this VOX bass he was playing...have you ever seen this 8 string VOX bass or is it custom? I know you have a lot of knowledge of 60's basses.

Yes, well aware of KV and yes, that appears to be some sort of custom bass. Only the white singles and knobs look Vox... no idea otherwise but I see the small hs badge w/Vox on it. Maybe a Vox one-off. Never seen anything like it prior.

get so annoyed sometimes……the MB rig worked perfect last night but decided to do weird stuff today……Class D amps plain don’t like crappy power……no prob, pull out good old fashioned Class AB stuff and all weirdness went away…..

So is your Evo500 similar to my 550 Spyder other than a few details? (compression, sub, eq) I set it a bit differently last night - you can see it in this pic Dave posted. Got a lot more girth out of it.

Treble/Bass/Mid controls 12:00 - Gain - 3:00 / Master 9:00 - lower switches engaged other than Mid boost. A good setting for the '64 II - air was moved.
