Thunderbird Club

Anyone have $3,800 laying around?

Geoff,
It was never a bright white to begin with, Gibson called it "Classic White" so kind of a bit on the yellow side ( We all know there's more shades of white than any other color, right?) , the finish sweat stained and yellowed as I played the bass, especially live and it has it's share of honest wear, plus all the usual dings, dents etc. The color is rather uneven overall, when this started happening I was a bit upset about it as the bass was still pretty new, anymore, I just dig it.

Still makes noise too!

I love EVERYTHING about that bass....

Like I said, a single (good) Thunderbird pickup is magic, I know you're using EY Guitars for this, so go with SIT Power Steels for strings, they'll help fill in for what the pickups are missing - that nice complex lo mid and mid.
Also bonus point if you can cut the PG and not use the trim ring, like this:

No, no betting. Well rarely and very small amounts then

yeah, new board moved on a few long serving Execs a few years ago. Since then a new CEO (who seems excellent TBF) at the end of last year… since then a heap of us gone, all high service years people. A few got tapped, I took it into my own hands and left before the tap. 34 years service and I dont miss the place now. Sad really.

Finally going overseas in Sept after I was pressured into cancelling my approved leave in May 23. That just ate away at me until I gave my notice.

My white on white Chinese Pbass has aged in the opposite way. The body is still bright white but the pickguard is yellowing. ????
I guess the paint has UV inhibitor, but the plastic does not.

Both pickups but ring only for the bridge pickup.

Yeah, I’ll be cutting my own guard for sure. Still deciding on Pickguard color. Probably b/w/b, but could go 4 ply tort, or perhaps something else …. Hmm …
