Geoff,
It was never a bright white to begin with, Gibson called it "Classic White" so kind of a bit on the yellow side ( We all know there's more shades of white than any other color, right?) , the finish sweat stained and yellowed as I played the bass, especially live and it has it's share of honest wear, plus all the usual dings, dents etc. The color is rather uneven overall, when this started happening I was a bit upset about it as the bass was still pretty new, anymore, I just dig it.

Still makes noise too!

I don't remember the name of the fictitious private eye we concocted a few years and tens of thousands of pages ago. As I recall, he played a Thunderbird with a lot of playwear in our story. I think his name was Sloved Dovewing or something like that. Your bass is getting into that territory, a true achievement.

Did you cut that chrome tail or do they sell that? Looks good.

They used to sell them, but no more. I had two, but this is my last one. I’m going to make a template from this one so I can make aluminum ones in the future if I want to.

Fender Japan.
Great bass.
I had one way back.
Squire did an early 50’s version in LPB and in a sort of translucent off white.
Not made anymore.

I've made aluminum control plates. They aren't chrome but once buffed-out they look good -

Yes. There is an expensive Fender version, but there was a Squire version. I think that was the Sting edition. I haven't been keeping up with those so I may be off on this.

i think the aluminum looks really good on guitars that are aged if you just steel wool treat it instead of a full polish.
