I put a Hipshot on my SG Bass and it didn’t come with the right screws. Hipshot said it would take a few weeks for right screws so I went to local hardware and bought SS Allen heads. I was going to use temporarily until right screws came but they grew on me so I left them…plus Allen wrench made it a breeze and no tatty bits!*Bridge update*
After a lot of swearing, brute force and blisters forming, I found some 3 in 1 oil... Job done! It's now tight, though I've chewed the screws to bitswill have to replace them. Can't have my pride and joy having tatty looking bits!
I kept waiting for it to zoom to you.The guys that run Jellybean Autocrafters are childhood friends. They had been out to see my previous cover band, so when their Canada Day show resumed after covid they called me.
I had an inquiry for another event next year, but it was 1.5 hours away and we probably quoted more than they wanted to pay. I haven't heard back. I won't do those sorts of shows without a sound person that brings all the gear. Apparently we could be heard quite clearly across the whole site.
We were under the white tent:

Bridge bolts should all be allen heads by now.I put a Hipshot on my SG Bass and it didn’t come with the right screws. Purple silks, purple bass, BMM if not purple. It is the tone color. While I prefer the purple (it's my favorite color), the blue is pretty amazing. I'm surprised no one has done a green or red. Not so much orange or yellow; those would truly be custom shop.
And tone sparkles.White sparkle could be pretty cool (minus blue stripe) -

I did the same thing - I like the hex-head bolts better than what they come with.I put a Hipshot on my SG Bass and it didn’t come with the right screws. I was going to use temporarily until right screws came but they grew on me so I left them…plus Allen wrench made it a breeze and no tatty bits!

It's not like either one would kiss me, anyway!
Hipshot
Hipshot bridges ship with American and Metric bolts.
I used the HipShot Supertone bridge on a couple of basses - this was before Babicz bridges were available. Absolutely no issues - they work well for string-thru and/or top-mounted stringing, are light (aluminum) and have all needed adjustment. Prices of both seem to vary but are similar.Hipshot only needs to make one bridge for both brands, & as you say ship with both Imperial & metric sized bolts.
Babicz on the other hand has one bridge for Gibson 3 point equipped basses, & one for Epiphone 3 point equipped.
Given i prefer the sleeker look of the babicz over the hipshot, that's what i went with on my Tree Thunderbird. But i see lots more Hipshot users. To each their own, everyone has a preference really xD
Horses for courses..........
Basses for shows, we have a rare Seattle show tonight, 45 minutes of tearing it up opening for another band.
I haven't taken this bass out for show since well before Covid.

Amen! For those of you who hate the achievement notifications: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/how-do-i-turn-off-all-the-stupid-achievements.1656576/
Still time to book a flight to Seattle Geoff. Thanks for your good wishes gang. It’s a bit of of a funny feeling. Swings between “have I made a big mistake?” to “I should have done this earlier!”.
I think I’ll settle for a little while before rushing out looking for a big purchase. I actually do have some stuff at home that I must do… which kinda sucks but that’s life.
Did the seller disclose the switch before you bought it? If not, they owe you a tube.My used AMB 500 evo iii arrived today. I haven't got to give it a good playing yet but so far I'm impressed. Even flat it just sounds big and full. It's in near mint condition.
I maxed the input and valve drive and did not get the distortion I kept seeing in demos online. Not that I want true distortion, but was curious as to why there was not more breakup than I was getting. Using passive Pbasses and Jbasses I was not able to get the VU meter into the red either. That didn't seem normal like on my little RM 300 EVO. (I was not using the active mode so that wasn't it and there was a reduction when that was engaged. EQ was largely flat.) I asked the seller about it and if different tube was installed that didn't breakup easily and he said the original tube was very cheap and said "China 12ax7" and was very cold and harsh. He didn't use much distortion but wanted a little warm dirt sometimes so he replaced the tube with a David Eden 7025, so that may explain it. I'll have to look into 7025 tubes. No experience with those.
