Thunderbird Club

love how Africans use the instrument for counterpoint….sign of master bass playing imho…..although simple, a tricky groove to cop…

Reminds of a 'funny' story: I was playing in a big band. We were doing a tune with a Latin rhythm. The bass part was a chord chart(except for a few bars written out), so I was playing the "proper" bass line-nothing on 1, basically the root on the and of 1 and the fifth on 3. The BL nearly lost his shi...er, mind. "1 and 3". "Yessir".

Daryl Jones……do this!!

I hate the new site design. I’ve watched this club for a while and I’m the old design got one notification if someone had replied. Now I get a notification when everyone replies, spamming my notification box. More I have to unwatch the club

Or you could turn off that alert in your alert preferences.

I used the Ashdown ABM with the '55 Pbass (w/SIT Power Wounds) last evening. It was just about to the fantastic level. The '55 never sounded so good. I'm still learning what to adjust on the head, but after a couple songs, I had it about where I left it the rest of the night. I can't emphasize how much an improvement it was. I was super impressed and wasn't expecting anything like that kind of amazing tone. Oh, and I'm not even using my BBE Sonic Stomp magic box.

So far I have only used the ABM with two basses that were troublesome, so I' really curious how something like the '64 Thunderbird will sound with it. I'm not sure how it can be improved upon since it didn't need any "fixing," but who knows. Maybe even it can sound even more betterer.

A couple of pictures from last night’s show on the city pier in Pt. Angeles, WA. We had a crowd in excess of 600, the beer vendor even sold out! It was a pleasant 65-70 degrees and sunny. Sound crew was great and we played really well.
The local NBC affiliate was there and interviewed us and shot a lot of footage, more on that as it develops, 2-3 weeks out.
