Then there’s always the ultra rare North birds (BlingBird, 66Tribute NR, and the ThunderCaster) but they aren’t really production models so I don’t know that I’d include them, but there are a couple more in the planning stages.

I thought Dingwall was mainly cutom / build to order. Did I misunderstand?
Feel free to add Acadia at the end in a custom builder section - or better yet on a custom builder wiki page, per the intro text. Same with Norths. 8^)

Nice outdoor gig on a pleasant evening at the Old Princeton Landing. Good crowd (not that you can see any), and really good bands. Red Voodoo from Sacramento opened (these kids are likely to go somewhere, super tight retro pop/hard rock, industry connections, ala Sammy Hagar I heard), and State Line Empire as the featured headline act.View attachment 7057977

Definitely not for me, but is $500 for a set neck bass in general a pretty good deal?

I am very much a two pickup bass guy, but just not into the P/J thing. I guess if the “J” were a split and hotter than the neck it might be alright. I really like my P-basses with the 2 split / P-bass pickups in them, and a standard Jazz bass, and of COURSE the mighty Thunderbird IV!

Cool stage set - I've been there but in the early '90s - it's possible it was there then but the music I saw/heard was inside.

By this time you should be able to buy one used for less, but I also know that since covid used car prices have gone up along with a lot of things. But I hear you about finding an ideal vehicle for your needs - I know I'd buy another Element if needed.

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I hope all of you have had a good weekend, and are enjoying a relaxing Sunday evening. I haven't been around much, as the new job is keeping me crazy busy. Happy to be able to write a bit of a gig report. We played last night at a club downtown. It is the fourth time we have played there, and we have been well received each time. Most of the evening we played as Cat Herd, and played everything from Muddy Waters and Little Walter, to Bowie and Santana. We also played a few pieces as Safar, and had a lovely and talented belly dancer join us. The crowd loved her, and she is great to perform with any time. I used an older 5 string P with flats that proved pretty much indestructible. I was happy to debut my new cab. I bought a very light 2X12 cab from a place called GR Bass. So far, very happy with the sound, and amazed each time I pick it up. Thinking about a new amp to go with it, as I have been using a little 15 watt Ashdown tube head, and it is usually all the way up before long. The gentleman who I bought the cab through, discussed the perils of running an amp wide open. As I usually play through an old B15 at home, wondering if the 50 watt Ampeg tube amp might be a good portable solution for me. Decided with the gigs we are getting as Cat Herd, new lighter gear is in order.
I hope all are doing well. I still regret not being able to attend the get together in late July. I hope everyone is enjoying the change of seasons. Take care and stay well.

I rode the Livestrong Challenge 45 miler this morning. I haven't had time to train properly this year, hence the shorter distance. It went well; I ended up hanging with a co-worker I didn't know. He was struggling on hills (very little riding the past few months) so I hung back with him. A bit slower than I'd hoped, but worth it. APD wasn't stopping traffic at intersections the first ten miles this year which made getting up out of the river valley a stop and go affair. The F1 races were this weekend at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), which consumed a lot of resources. But we made it. No accidents, AFAIK, which is better than last year. After, a free lunch, and an OJ/vodka from the Tito's booth. It was somewhat weak, which was perfect because I still had to ride my bike back to the office and drive home. A soak, tacos & ice cream & mystery shows with Sharon, and I'll be practicing with my Thunderbirds shortly. Other than getting up at five freaking AM, a nearly perfect day.
Oh, and so far, $1,229 raised to support cancer victims and their families. Woohoo!

To the best of my knowledge Dingwal has/had two product lines that sold the DBird/DRoc basses. One built in Asia called the Standard line and one built in Canada called the Custom line. You could get a DBird and now a DRoc either way. The Standard line was pretty much store bought and came in 4 or 5 string and several colors. The Custom has some user specified options, different neck woods and color choices and is priced considerably higher.

The Savannah Uke bass is a very low production oddity that fits in a small niche segment - ukulele basses. I wouldn’t bother listing it as a Tbird even though it shares the same body shape as the NR. No one looking for a Tbird shaped alternative to a Gibson or Eppi is going to be looking for that.

The Samick mini Tbird however is a scaled down Tbird by every definition - body and headstock shape, pickup type and sound. It could easily be considered a youth model and is not much shorter than a short scale Thunderbird. It’s an interesting choice for kids and someone inclined to play a light weight or short scale bass or a travel bass or even a tight stage bass. Mine was built in 1990 but I’m not sure of the total units built or the years of production. I think it was specifically made for the Japan market.

As for the North birds, I listed those tongue in cheek, no intention of selling or marketing them.

The last supper. Ok, last snack. Qatar now refuses to fly at night, so my first leg was cancelled and now arrive home a day later with a 13 hour layover in Doha. Good thing for drugs.

I like mine a lot, too. Mine is Gen 1 and doesn't have some of the improvements Ford made. It is also about 18" shorter than ideal sometimes. It does nearly everything I need, and the few things it cannot do very well, there are workarounds.
