Thunderbird Club

Sorry for the interruption to the Football blog ;) but I just had to share the sound of this guy's Thunderbird. To friggin' stab, shoot and kill for!.drool

Nearly every video I see of a TBird the player is sporting a pick and it sounds great. I guess I'm gonna have to force myself to start playing pick style on the bird. Funny thing is I only play guitar with a pick but my guitar picks just don't sound or feel right on the bass. What picks do you pickin fools use?

Gibson XH Standard (teardrop shaped) = 1.17mm.

Used to use the triangular ones but they don't seem to fit my hand anymore.

A pick can produce a great sound but I myself can not play with a pick at all, it limits my abilities bigtime. Must take a pretty serious gauge to play like this guy though.

I use some Dunlop Tortex (I think. they are big purple triangles). I can't remember the thickness but it seems like they have 1.something printed on them. Will look later.

Dunlop Tortex 1.14mm, the tortex jazz 1.14mm picks as well from time to time.

Have to wonder if he was back on opioids? The toxicology will tell the story of this apparent suicide. Early reports are that he hung himself. So sad but I thank him for the music.

I hadn't heard any cause of death, it isn't being reported. Do you have a source? A sudden death at a young age is suspicious, but it could be any number of medical causes including the usual cardiovascular (stroke, heart attack etc.). But could also be misadventure.

Lots of sources are saying possible suicide and that he was found on the floor of the bathroom in his hotel room in the Detroit MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. I'm not sure how you go from hanging yourself to ending up on the floor but I guess the method of hanging could have let go or snapped.

Police Investigating Chris Cornell's Death as Possible Suicide

"Detroit police confirmed to E! News Thursday that at 12:05 a.m., Chris Cornell was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his hotel room at the MGM Grand Hotel. His wife called a family friend to check on Cornell, who forced the door open and found him unresponsive with a band around his neck. Medics arrived on the scene, where the singer was pronounced dead.

The officer said she has no knowledge of a suicide note or if drugs/alcohol were found at the scene. Asked if foul play is suspected, she replied, "The cause of death is under investigation."

Police are investigating Cornell's death as a possible suicide."

If my life depended on it, i'm screwed.
No matter how hard i try, it's simply an abomination when it comes to me playing with a pick.
