I’m lovin the Petersson Lull Tbird. Built very well, nice and light and the Mary Kay Trans White has always been one of my favorite colors. I’m still debating on changing the control harness to a couple of vol/tone stacks, which I’m positive would make this already great bass phenomenal. The only thing holding me back is the fact that this particular beauty is in pristine condition, truly investment grade and super rare with the swamp ash body. Any desoldering of pickups raises the question of authenticity of the pickups. For that reason I’ll probably pass on the mod and just enjoy the wonderful bass as is.
BTW - thx for posting the TP spec info.

If you ever take the pickups out I'd be curious to know if they have a TV Jones sticker on them, I would be pretty hesitant to modify it as it's quite rare and
was built by Mike.

I posted a pic of the body of this Lull T4II a few days ago. Still kind of shocked that I landed this. There can't be many of them. Mark do you know how many T4IIs were made? I've never seen another one other than yours. Anyway, this was FS on Reverb. Priced pretty hi. The seller and I went back and forth with offers and counters over a couple of weeks. He finally accepted a fair offer. I think I was the only one making offers. I knew the chances of seeing another of these at all much less for sale was next to none. It's very light and plays beautifully. I just put a new set of 45-105 Power Steels on it and backed off on the truss rod a hair. It came with bridge cables on it, a 50-110 set of flats. Those things do not bend! This one is also an ash body with a Mary Kay finish. Gonna shake the house a bit this afternoon. My family's away for the weekend.

I don't know the total number of IIs built, but it's likely very few, I'm aware of 4, one of which was built for Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi) that he later sold.

This is your bass hanging in the shop sometime in 2012.

I wouldn't touch it. Aside from being a super cool bass, it's a collectors item.

Beautiful! I’m sure it plays like a dream, it sure looks like one.

Even though the mod would be completely reversable I think I’ll pass on it. I could do the mod myself but the right way to do it would be to send it back to Lull so it could all be officially documented and providence maintained. That would be cost and time prohibitive if they would even do it. I’ll just pass and enjoy it’s stock greatness.

Thanks Mark! I always liked those JAXT4s with the NOISE stencil too. Years ago I had an opportunity to buy a natural Ash JAXT4 but waited a little too long and it was gone.

Well I have been busy working on a cigar box guitar and I decided to decorate it in a specific and very personal way.

You see, back in 1991, when my fifteen-year-old me, was in junior high, I had my first band "The No Problem Kids" and I bought my red Squier Stratocaster "The veteran" which I still own.

Another memento of that time was this bright yellow ring binder map, which said "NO PROBLEM" in neon green letters, I only needed to add the words "The" and "Kids" and presto, job done. A few portraits of the members completed the picture.


The EP I recorded back in 2021 to celebrate the 30'th anniversary of us playing our first show.

This year sees the 30'th anniversary of my high school graduation, and I wanted to pay tribute to that using the artwork on my ring binder.

It's not an exact match, but close enough. I recently started a new band (Also a power trio) with the NPK name, and I intend to use this cigar box guitar with that outfit.

Wise move - I've owned a few basses that I have left "as is". When a bass is 100% right from the start - it shouldn't be mucked with. A Kubicki Ex-Factor comes to mind, and an early '90s Fender Jazz +. I'd include most Rickenbacker's, if not for that bridge. Others fall into this category - but I'll leave it at that.

I know! LP's can be incredibly heavy! Must be the thick maple body! I knew a guy that had an early '70s Black Beauty w/3 pu's & Bigsby whammy bridge - monstrously heavy!

My cousin’s partner has an Epiphone Bonamassa LP - the green one - amongst his collection. I was completely stunned when I picked it up.
