I'd love to buy an old Hofner President bass like Stuart Sutcliffe had but they're way above what I'd want to pay for what would essentially be just a collectible for me.

Bond Girl at the recording studio - we're there to make the boss happy! :) About 6hrs for 4 songs including overdubs - pretty efficient considering time was spent having fun conversations! (if it ain't fun - why do it?)

Mr (drum) Phil brought his kick, a snare and cymbals but the sparkly purple kit is Roberts' - (he & it looked and sounded damn good!) Phil is my age and used to own a drum shop - he has seasoned chops. He and I work well together - we're lucky to have him on board.

In the guitar dept, Paul's Fender & Gibson were represented - '62 Jazzmaster - '68 SG - Paul was killin' it on his lead overdubs! He also overdubbed horn and melodica on "Shot In the Dark" (instrumental), "Dr No/Goldfinger" medley & "Tomorrow Never Dies" - the Sheryl Crow Bond song. The 4th song was "Diamonds Are Forever" - classic Bond.

Isolated B15N - once again delivered the low end JBL goodness.

T2K MkII & Ex-Factorbird fretless - Fender & (sorta) Gibson also represented in the bass dept - both active but both set passive powered by G&L MFD buckers/9v pre's. Used the fretless on one song of the three; "Bad For Business" - a jazzy number.

'76 B15N settings. Rob said what we dialed at the amp was very close to the d.i. signal - perfect.

Three of the Bond/Spy songs we've played together for many years. We've done our own in-house recordings of a couple over the years but nothing as professional. So they were second nature to play and only required a couple takes each. Bad for Business is more recent but it is pretty straight forward. I could have extrapolated on it (ala jazz walking) but opted to keep it simple to leave space for Cherie's vocals. It will be the most understated bass of the four favoring fretless feel & texture. (JAZZ) :D Cherie still needs to overdub her vocals but everything else is in the can. We gave Rob the solid raw materials and now he'll work his engineering magic to make it sound simple marvelous. (dawling)

Same key, same feel, slightly different arrangement - gives you an idea of our take on it.
