I had by far my worst reaction to the shingles ones. But from what I hear, that was nothing compared to the real thing.

Truth. I had shingles as an 18 year old. You don't want shingles. I got the vaccination a few years ago to avoid having shingles again.

Maybe the Van of Mediocre Ideas. I like worse better than mediocre.
That bass just looks the part, also looks like it kicks some serious booty..My StatusBird has dual reverse P pickups. I like the setup a lot. This one has EMG PX pickups and a EMG preamp, but I can't remember which one. Really nice bass that sounds fantastic to my ears. I do think about changing it to passive with either 2 EMG Geezer P pickups or maybe Duncan Quarter Pound Pickups to warm it up a bit tho. I think the graphite neck makes it a little brighter sounding.
I removed the tort guard immediately when I received the Bird.

I recently jumped into the Thunderbird world. I believe this one is an Epiphone Classic pro. It's neck through, and has Gibson pickups. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
I've always loved the look of the Thunderbird, but the only ones I've tried previously have been the base model epi's, and I didn't really get along with them. I didn't really like the sound, and the neck dive.
I came across this one for sale a while back and the price was so good, I felt compelled to buy it.
Once I played it, I was really impressed. Its got almost no neck dive, and the sound is great.
I've had it for a bit, and brought it to rehearsal yesterday, and had a lot of fun playing it. I put on my chorus pedal with some subtle settings, and it really sang with it.
My only complaint is the output isn't as loud as my other basses. I have a couple of Stingrays, a P-bass, Jazz, Ric 4003, Ibanez BTB.
My question to you is, I've done a series/parallel mod to a Jazz bass before, and it significantly increased output. Would that be possible with this Thunderbird? Has anyone done it? I guess the option of replacing the pickups is there, but I like the tone itself already, just want more output.

My CP has more output across all strings than my other Thunderbirds. Some of that may be due to the strings, but maybe you have a different issue.
I've had both shingles shots and felt like crap for a couple days after both.

Don’t often hear of people wanting more output.
One thing to try - if you have everything set to 10 vol vol tone, reduce one of the vols to 8 or 9. Both vols at 10 causes an effect of slightly reducing the volume.
I've had volume issues with the bridge pup of my '13 and it seems like the volume pot is the culprit ....if I apply a bit of "force" at the end of it's cw travel, bam!...full output restored....

The Classic pro is a phenomenal bass and usually has tons of output. If you haven’t already done so you might want to try raising the pickups closer to the strings. Many here max out their pickup height with pretty good results.

I think I'm going to keep the headstock red, sorry... I was a bit disturbed by the fact that the pickguard and the truss rod cover aren't the same colour but... it's kind of an aquired taste, finally I like it as it is right now.
I'm waiting for Rotosound flats, I don't like rounds.
