Very cool find!In an attempt to spoil my less than six-month-old granddaughter and win Grandfather Of The Year, I bought her the smallest Thunderbird I could find. I am still building her a full size 7enderBird, but she won't be big enough to play it until she is at least 2This little Bird will need to hold her over for now.

This electric ukulele and an 8 string mando-Bird were stock offerings some time back. Here is another version on Sweetwater right now.Very cool find!
Was that actually a stock Eppi offering at some point? What scale is it? Looks like it might even be smaller than my 26” scale Sammick Tbird. I’m still trying to find strings that’ll fit mine.
This version is a ukulele.Is a mandolin?
I know. May be the one thing no one knows!for a club this devoted to Birds, you'd think someone would know.....
I thought that was mainly for nitro.Donor Bass arrived. I haven't told it I'm going to rip it's guts out yet.
I figured it was coming from SW but wasn't positive. Am now.

It's pretty cool here so I'm letting sit a while. Def been in cold trucks overnight.
I love the colorThe claw and screws were in the box. I did a quick fix on the holes. Likely have to do a better job.
Does have the original 760s!
But there's a problem.....

The bass is in fantastic condition. Light scratches on one pickup cover, but other than that it looks like it's been barely played...and I'm not sure I want to gut it for parts. It ends up being a fantastic deal on a really nice bass. Feels very quality made. As nice as both VPs and better than many 70s Fenders!
Duly noted!Consider this a sign from the universe to just buy a set of the Gibson Thunderbird pickups and be done with it! I have had things like this happen to me so many times! I try to save some money and end up spending 3x what I would have if I had just taken the easier "more expensive" option in the first place.![]()
I’ve always assumed the mutes were there to help emulate an upright sound. Stand by Me is THE example. One of the first things I taught myself on bass, it forced me to think about muting. The muted sound works well for some songs like Stand by Me, but really kills the sustain I want for almost everything else.
Flats is all I’ve heard.I asked that question when I was building the WillBird. The only information I could find said flats. Nothing more.
Good stuff! It really is. I recently reconnected with a guitarist I played with 15 years ago. Then I found some live recordings of our old band on Reverbnation.
And somehow my sound with an Aria Pro 2 SB600 is not that much different from my current tone.
Check it out:

There seems to be a length limitation on the tracks on Reverbnation. I'm going to try to get the originals.
And not the boogie woogie flu.He had the flu really bad but is better. Just busy I suppose. Checked on him a couple times but didn't ask any questions beyond that.
There’s so much cool about this photo.Yep, it's Wednesday.......... Faraway garages of the rich and famous!

I was surprised how much I liked the CP with D'As on it. The first two were my favorites. The 3rd sounded muffled but that was explained and made sense. Here’s a quick clip of the Greco with boomers, 2012 CP with NYXLs and the ‘66 Tribute NR with Fender 7520’s in that order…

After I played back the recording I realized I had the bridge tone knob rolled way back on the ‘66. It would normally be brighter in the recording. The other two basses on board knobs were set at neck vol 7, bridge vol 5 and tone at 5. Played finger style over the top of the neck pickup and recorded direct from bass to iPad going through a SSL12 interface.
Later today I’ll put some labella black tapes on the CP so folks can hear what difference they make.
Unfortunately or fortunately I don't see this Epi going anywhere. I'm shocked. Like the one I played years ago, it is darker than VPs with the same pickups. Must have something to do with the blend configuration as I assume the pots and cap are the same as VPs. I'm thinking some SIT Power Steels would sound great on it. Flats would no doubt some sound great. I had some Dean Markley Blue Steels on the white VP early on that also sounded great.Hate it when that happens. I bought the Ebony ‘17 VP fully intending to paint it PB. But it showed up almost mint. I couldn’t even see the minor scratches that the seller disclosed. It was too nice to repaint.
Nice bass. I’d make sure the claw is properly fixed, flip it, and buy a pair of Gibson reissues. YMMV.
