After 13 straight 12-15 hours days spent testing software, finally a day off.

House bass rig today was a Darkglass M200 head on a 215 cab. Sounded pretty huge. No effects loop, so I just ran my board into the amp's input without my preamp, with all knobs at noon. I was perfectly happy with the tone.

Thanks man and no hurry. In spite of sounding pretentious it's much more effective album to listen when there's no hurry (of course that applies to much of the music). Maybe one can also use mine to clear the house...?

Well I finally gave it a listen today during my daily walk and I liked it, liked it a lot. A lot of Pink Floyd vibes there, and excellent playing
Must listen to it again later, in more correct conditions. That is in a dark room, lit by a few candles, and a glass of red wine in my hand

Funny thing is I had sent him a counter offer, and while I was waiting for his response, I started down the road of working a deal for the 2014 on FB Marketplace. Once the FB seller and I worked out all the details around shipping, etc. I had to wait for my offer on the 2012 to expire. Once it did, I sent the $$$$ to the guy on FB for the 2014. About an hour later, the guy on Reverb sent a message saying he missed my counter-offer, said it was a fair offer and if I make the offer again, he would accept. The good thing is I got the 2014 for maybe around $400 less, but, I think I would have rather had the 2012. But, I know I got the better, by far, deal.

Thank you both M-guys! It's funny, Mvf is the third one to report me how it works while taking a walk. Maybe I should advertise it as "ambient rock* for walking"?

The VP isn’t really in need of anything to be great. But if I were to drop a pup in one it would be at the neck to give it the warmer tone option it doesn’t already have.
More or less like this build I did a couple of years ago with three volume/tone stacks for ultimate sound shaping options…

Interesting, that looks quite a bit like the color of the 2014 Heritage Cherry. Was there a run of those in 2012 as well?
I took my 2014 to practice for the first time this week and was told to leave it there and not take it home. They are pretty jaded due to all the basses I've cycled through there, but really like this one looks and tonewise. The + pickups also work fine fingerstyle.
I did some experimenting yesterday:
Still waiting for the pots and flush straplock pins.
Inserted the strap on the body back only.
Holding the strap here only. The bird’s neck rises! The body falls.
Hmm, so that is the correct spot for the fulcrum pivot point.
Using gaffer’s tape, located the strap on the body edge, top “horn “ same exercise as above, the headstock dips massively!
Although the forward roll away from my body was no longer present.
Relocated strap forward pin to body back neck joint.
Hand holding the bass only by this pin, I looked for where the weight was beginning to be felt one again on the tail pin.
Optimal location seem to be eyeballed at about 3” towards the top edge, 1/2 inch or thereabouts, north from the wing/neck glue joint.
Slung over my shoulders:
NO DIVING:
The weight is on my left shoulder, but the tail of the body can be felt pulling on my back. Adding the wireless transmitter mid back will add MORE pull on the front pin, with additional counterweight.
Will share more once the flush mounts arrive. I think , although not new or super innovative, that this is a recipe for success.
***motivating factor
The tuners that I’m possibly replacing the Wilkinsons are still to be determined.
Leaning towards Gotoh. Hipshot lollipop are attractive also.
I don’t currently have a Detuner equipped bass, and adding one to the bird would worsen dive, unless I found a way to address it.
Ultralight tuners, with the Detuner should be about a wash with the Steel vintage Wilkinsons.
