I wouldn’t do that to her (lowball). That’s her art. But I’m too spoiled by my other basses to play my BO much, so it would be mainly art. I have other places I need to spend my money right now. But it is certainly tempting.

Does anyone have accurate nut dimensions for a 1.5" wide Thunderbird nut? Preferably string-center-to-center and board-edge-to-strigng-center but anything accurate enough to cut from, I'd be appreciative.

I will translate for LH, & could work from tween-string spacing if you can give string gauges, or even just real accurate measures of the side margins so I can work out the rest.

I don't own a 1.5"-nut bass, the nut that came with the kit originally is laughably wrong, and I have searched in vain for days on the web to no avail.

Please? or even a go to where it can actually be found?

All the "calculators" I can find expect string-to-fretboard-edge as an input & every bass I own is different there. Argh. :banghead:

Well, gosh. We get on a plane tomorrow morning. Our adventures in Costa Rica are coming to a close. This trip. It is an amazing place. The towns and cities are what I would call functional at best. Everything else is great. They have the best coffee I think I have ever tasted. Plus manta rays and sharks to swim with. Being five feet from a six foot shark or ten feet from a twenty foot manta is breathtaking. Not that losing your breath sixty feet under water is a good idea. One of the sharks rolled its eyes at us after it swam up to us. Oh, divers.

I couldn't move down here, though. No Thunderbirds. The flock stays in Seattle.

I just copy from basses I have. I use bulk Corian (mostly), so if I'm not happy with the outcome, I just make another one

Not an option for me this time as I have no suitable example out of my 6 existing basses

Gues I'll just have to re-invent it.

If I'd actually bought that 2018... :crying:
I could mesure the snot out of it and stop begging people's assistance.

Guess I'll chase down jazz bass dims and see if they work. A Jazz is a 1.5" nut and 34" scale... but gotta sweat the bridge spacing.

Use a straight edge to run a line from the center of the G bridge saddle that is parallel to the edge of the fingerboard and use that to determine the center of the G string nut slot. Then do the same for the E.
Then it's a matter of figuring out where the A and D go because using the string centers doesn't account for the width of the strings - you'll end up with E and A too close together. I eyeball it.
Old Gibsons were often inconsistent when it comes to nut slot spacing.

Graph Tech makes a perfect pre-slotted one. I tried to find the info from when I ordered one but struck out. I won’t be home until Tuesday so I’m no help trying to measure.
