I'm not to the painting part yet, but my wife out of the blue said she didn't think the gold hardware would look good on Pelham Blue. said something about two warm colors (some kind of decorating something or other she likely read). Now I'm nervous. This is an ai image I asked for. The gold is a little dark, but I'm concerned--and have the pickups in gold. Should I change my mind? Should I go white instead or stay the course? The pickguard is parchment, not bright white as here.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've got some gold hardware J.T. gave me and had the pickup covers in gold.... Not that I can't undo the pickup cans but hate to monkey with them for one. Maybe do a gold mist like J.T. was initially thinking. I'm confused....

On another note. I received my 2014 Cherry ‘bird today. I was comparing the photos of the 2012 that I had first tried to get, where the guy missed my counteroffer, which he later said he would accept, but by then I had already paid for the 2014. The 2012 looks significantly darker cherry in the pics compared to the pic of the (now mine) 2014.

No matter, although I much would have preferred the darker cherry 2012, I got this one for $400 less than the 2012 would have cost me after tax shipping etc.


How anyone can consider this thing as have a good setup is beyond me. I swear, some of these basses I end up with that I get online (reverb, eBay, etc.) are such terrible players out of the box, it’s no wonder people decide to sell them. No a big deal, this one is getting a chrome 3-point, chrome Hipshots, a black pg and a set of chrome Gibson re-issues (and chrome rings) that I bought recently that came from a 2021 NR (which is the closest I’ll ever get to owning an NR). So that re-assembly will involve getting it set up to my liking.

So true. When I received my 2014 from Guitar Center, the truss rod had NO tension on it and the action was really high. Its no wonder someone sold it...

I love PB but if you’re sticking with gold hardware, no. JMO, but chrome. Black PG with chrome TB emblem and black TR cover.

Drummer friend sent this. He had a friend who saw them recently in Philly, but don't think she took this. This kind of think is just wrong. Does this dude not know how to operate he DVR? Life is about priorities. Even if I didn't care for a band I was be more interested in that.
I sent it to J.T. and he got a kick out of it.

Farmer Dave will. BBQ around Chucky’s pool. But I’m stating for the record now that I will not do the deed of killing or plucking them. I’m happy to roast them with my famous beer can recipe though.

I like the color.

Yeah. 7/64 action is what many accept. Because that’s what 7ender says is “spec.” Too much work IMO. My basses are all at 2/32 or lower.

Well, the hens are safe. They're just for eggs. The roosters, in my opinion, are only good for dog food.

I don’t get it. I’ve set up all my basses myself. It’s simple. But it takes time and trial and error to get it right for me. Patience is the key. Tweak and adjust over days.

No, I was hoping so. The 2012 has very obvious grain lines, where mine is more uniform, and I’m guessing mine was lighter toned wood before the finish was added. The 2012 below has really noticeable grain under the cherry.

Rut roh. My offer was accepted. Now I have to tell the wife. Should have offered less. I should have waited longer. But the blue got me. I could not resist. I don’t think I’m over paying, but I could have probably gotten it for a couple hundred less. Oh well.

Well, it sure is pretty, not that I’m Into blue, but it’s undeniably a nice looking ‘bird! I really like the conversion to the two point. Since I have to get my Greco completely re-finished, I decided to convert it to a two point.
