Thunderbird Club

It is a bass. You tune it once a month whether it needs it or not.
Sometimes its a waste. I used my '06 with La Bella Nylons last night for rehearsal. Hadn't used it in two months if not more. E was ever so slightly off perfect and that was it. No perceptible difference. Could have just started playing and would have never known the difference. I have found after years of playing, tuning doesn't help my playing.

In my case, tuning just makes the vocals sound even further off key...

I tuned by ear for years with guitar. But this way is quicker and easier for mid-set tuning (temp changes, brutal playing with newer strings, etc.)
Agree. Oddly enough, I've had a number of times where I thought I was out of tune, stepped on the tuner and all was well. My wife says I can generally tell the key of a song by listening. That's going to far, but I can tell when a guitarist is slightly out of tune, so it's weird that on occasion I think I'm out of tune when I'm not. But I don't think all my grey cells touch, so that may be it.

Sounds weird and unbelievable, but when I was thin, during a song or in between, I could rest my bass on my hipbone and feel the vibrations and could get a unruly string back in line if out of tune. It doesn't work these days. All you need is spandex and no underwear.

Ok, the last part isn't true. Well it actually may be, but I've never worn spandex or gone commando.

I've been playing more upright lately. I use an app on my phone to tune it and practicing at home, I will often leave it on in front of me, so I can check how I'm doing.

In my head, I hear Arnold Schwarzenegger................

Temp & humidity changes here can make a noticeable difference on at least a couple of my birds.

Realizing that I’m “kinda” digging the Gibson Brite Wires that came installed on purple bird. Going to wait a bit, and play a gig or 2 to see how they fare.
Gig tomorrow!
The Rock in Twain Harte.
New venue for us.
They were too trebley for me. Heck. EBCFs are pushing it for me on that bass!

Test still underway, and proof will be behavior under drued clear, but I gotta say... the unsanded phenolic looks frakkin sick under wet lacquer!

Dead black til the light catches the weave, and clearly is bond-friendly to lacquer.
Big fan of textured phenolic, and that looks awesome.
