more lows? would have thought otherwise with them mondo bodies and headstocks....Nor in mine. The VP needs more lows, not more highs.

Sandwiching the metal cover between two pieces of wood might help.Nickel Silver does not like to be drilled. I can try again now that i slowed down my drill press to as low as it goes. Last time i tried it was difficult to get a clean drill threw
Likewise, I like my ‘64 better. Noticeably darker than my VP or the Embassy I had, both with first gen 760 ProBuckers.Who knows. They may be. The ‘64 (George’s) sounds better to me than my VP.
It would be interesting to hear the '64 against the Willbird for low end. A real '64 does have plenty.Likewise, I like my ‘64 better. Noticeably darker than my VP or the Embassy I had, both with first gen 760 ProBuckers.
I wouldn’t say my VP is bass shy, it just has less bottom end than the ‘64 reissue. It would be interesting to hear the '64 against the Willbird for low end. A real '64 does have plenty.

No, purple silks.Tone is in the headstock?
@Engle;I did a no-load mod on a 250K pot for my EB project. I'm going to try it on the mudbucker.

Are the '64 reissue and VP dimensionality the same?I wouldn’t say my VP is bass shy, it just has less bottom end than the ‘64 reissue.
Sacrilege!Tone is in the headstock?
That only compensates to a certain point.…. And if it was bass shy, your amp has knobs for that.
Then throw in some tubes. That only compensates to a certain point.
Mine aren’t identical but the physical dimensions are extremely close over 10 measurements. Are the '64 reissue and VP dimensionality the same?

Yeah, I was looking at offloading the VP (great bass but just tonally not for me) until I put Thunderbuckers in it.The 760s just don't have the bass and lo-mids, I didn't really like my white VP until the Gibson re-issues got dropped in, now I love it - the headstock is still stupid big tho.
Not exactly, there's neck pitch, and pickup position differences, I'm spending a lot of time with my two Epi '64s lately because they're going to the next show.
Through the Ashdown/SWR, they sound pretty damn good.
I know the feeling. My 2021 VP rarely gets played given the Willbird.Yeah, I was looking at offloading the VP (great bass but just tonally not for me) until I put Thunderbuckers in it.
The Electronics update stepped up the VP to a whole new level.I know the feeling. My 2021 VP rarely gets played given the Willbird.
I’m set then! I just KNEW there was a reason I got the SVT.Then throw in some tubes.
