Which Thunderbirds? I know for a fact that the Gator will fit the modern Gibsons (with the inside bottom cushion removed), but the Epiphone VP variants might still be too long. Forget the Mono. No experience with Reunion Blues.

It will be for a couple of ''modern'' Gibson Thunderbirds indeed.

Hey everyone!

Long time no post here.

I'm having a doubtful moment and thought you all in the group could be of great help.

Basically, I'm getting a double bass guitar gig bag for my Thunderbirds, and I've narrowed my options down to:

• Gator G-PG Pro-Go series
• Reunion Blues Continental Voyager
• Mono Vertigo (though I'm unsure if there's an option for two basses available)

I can't try them before buying, so your input is highly appreciated.

Perfect. I would absolutely recommend the Gator. They also have the Icon series.

…and that right there is my favorite plane of WWII. Might not have racked up the most dog fight wins or the most bombing runs or the best escort in either theater, but it sure is unique and a work of art. Aside from that I’d go with a Corsair or Mustang.

I’m not all hip on having to much of everything.
I’m not saying don’t go for it, but appreciating greatness in lesser amounts makes me grateful for what I’ve got.
And ya can’t take it with ya anyway.

That said, I couldn’t pass this up at 425.
I rarely treat myself.
It chose me.

All this amp and cab talk is interesting. Seems that Tbirds work just as well with SS as they do Hybrid or Valve heads and 10’s 12’s and 15’s also seem to be very common here. I’m currently running SS and reverse Hybrid heads or combos thru 10’s and 12’s and valves thru an 18”. Still looking for a vintage 15” cab for my reverse Hybrid (SS pre with Tube power section) amp.
I did just purchase a late 1980’s AMP BH420 (precursor to the Gibson GB440, which was the precursor to my Thunderfunk TFB420). Fantastic amp design which also influenced some of the Mesa and Eden amp designs IIRC.
Should be here in a couple of days. I might pass it on to @Chucky Stiletti for a while to have him run it thru its paces and go over the guts for a total refresh.

Will be interesting to hear the differences between the AMP and the ThunderFunk (what horrible names for amps).

The best rig I can recall playing through was the Sunn head into a (I think) folded horn cab (Acoustic?) at Daves during the Hollister GTG two years ago.

I played a FH a couple times or so and love it.

Yes they are. The more I use mine the more I like it. And you know how goofy picky I can be. I'm still getting acquainted with mine and it's EQ, and I have two less sliders than you.

didn't know that....thought they were favored in PTO because of their twin engine redundancy.....if I recall, Bong was very successful in one of those but can't recall the theater....

I think it was the IMAX.

The gator pro Dual will not work, I have a Korean, unknown brand for a 35” bass that works for one, and an Epi hard case .

The issue with the Gator Dual, is that the basses face outward, putting too much stretch with the lower bouts on opposite corners .

These are the modern Epis with huge headstocks, longer than any other standard Thunderbird.
