Thunderbird Club

GK related, and, even though I didn’t buy the head new, this little experience I just had pushed me to making the “good deal” purchase for yet another amp…

…while playing my HOD / GK212 very low in my garage yesterday, I noticed a little buzz in the cab around the open E, and F, F# and determined it was coming from the top speaker of the two 12’s. Not a big deal, you really don’t hear it when playing louder, and certainly not when playing along with recordings or with the band, but it is a brand new cab and under warranty. Just for the heck of it I sent a message to GK support yesterday and first thing this morning, I got a message asking for the serial number and my address to send a new speaker. I don’t even think they want the other one back…

Good customer service is pretty important to me, and GK just scored serious points with me.
That’s how it’s supposed to be done.
But the true test will be when you replace the speaker.
This inquiring mind will want to know the outcome.

I’ve known this was coming, but it’s still very sad. It has been a wonderful venue. But times are tough. And with Hard Rock opening a venue twenty miles south, I expect Buck’s dream is dead.

These arrived

We heard of the Corinthian leather thing but we didn’t get any ads with it. Our top spec Val’s had buttoned loose velour seats from distant memory on the late ‘70s Chrysler Regal SE.
The earlier “Chrysler by Chrysler” had cloth seats like Grandma’s lounge. But it did have “Carparthian Elm” plastic wood veneer on the dash.

Those other ads mentioned were interesting insofar as we got the same campaigns! “Pork, the other white meat” and the milk smile with the milk moustaches on people.

The other white meat.

Plus this one, put some pork in your fork! This version relies on an Aussie colloquial meaning of “to pork” which I won’t explain.

Real ads by the Board responsible for marketing Pork.

I

cool shot....did the bridge cover move?...

Nope, same as it ever was. I did have a nice repro pickup cover on it for a long time, but it's currently in a box in my closet.

You can see it in this old picture.........

The official lifecycle of a Camaro back when my car was built:

Girl graduates from high school and goes to typing school.
She gets a job somewhere and buys a new Camaro.
She drives it for a while, but decides she is more grown up than that and buys a Monte Carlo.
Her younger brother buys her Camaro from her.
Younger brother hotrods the Camaro.
Younger brother turns the Camaro into scrap metal one way or another.

That's the complete lifecycle.
