They make any Boone's Farm there?

My new ABM makes s buzzing sound when unmuted. Not noticeable when playing at home, but otherwise noticeable. I thought maybe the tube got abused in shipping but it did it with another tube. EQ and tube drive do not affect it, nor does any changes that I can tell. All other amps here are quite (the little RM300 is a little noisy), so I don't think it's power of what I'm using that's doing it. I searched and found the latest version can make some noise (subjective to be sure). Using it live would not be a problem, but was more concerned something wasn't right and might die prematurely.

It sounds like the kind of buzz that might go away if you move around, but it doesn't.

I get that with all my amps if plugged into a circuit in my garage. But, the idiots that wired my house connected the neutral and ground into a single buss bar and didn't drive a pipe into the ground...I really need to get that fixed...nearly 40 years late.

Return if brand new.....

Return if brand new.....
OK, thanks.
B-stock (healthy discount too). Someone returned it. I think I know why. Worth keeping if they knock more off maybe?
Just noticed no buzz if nothing is in the input. Does get louder if output is raised. Never goes away even is output is all the way off.

it was returned for a reason D, the Klystron we used at the GTG was dropped from the top an 8x10" enclosure and we are still finding problems with it.....as with most of the stuff, if dropped or had fluids spilled inside, shy away, most times it won't be the same as brand new again, these are pretty complicated amps with involved interconnects etc.....a common credo in engineering is "don't disturb a functioning system" (European) or "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" (American)......any way you can get the 500 back?......:smug:

Thx. I certainly appreciate the expert opinion. I'll contact Musician's Friend and work on sending it back. Hate that. Got $170 off what they go for new.
Still have the 500, so I'm good there.

I assume it does this with multiple basses?

Sorry Dude, don't take chances if you don't have to....you may want consider a power soak resistor in parallel with your cab...

Thanks. They said they would send a return label once I go through the process. On the good side, the state won't get $45 for doing nothing!

Maybe consider keeping your 500 and getting an 8 ohm Ashdown cabinet of some flavor to match it to.

I do not recommend the evo IV pro Neo series. I would lean towards a ported version.

Normally that would work, but I love my Ampeg Heritage 410 and don't want to part with it--or even move it! But if I get to where that's too big, your idea is on the list.
