They eventually mellow out and then if you roll back the tone knob Cobalts flats will sound like flats.didn't care much for those, if I want "bright" I go for steel rounds, if I want flats, LB DTB or tapes....
well, aren't they supposed to?...I'm pretty lucky that I have time to change basses between songs but frankly, the round wound sound dominates our sets so I do it the other way around, I turn the tone down on the rounds or (less common) switch basses....They eventually mellow out and then if you roll back the tone knob Cobalts flats will sound like flats.
I got stuck in Portland on the motorcycle. A sport bike is a challenge in a lot of snow. Riding back to Seattle was pretty funny. The looks I got were priceless. And I lived. It wasn't a sure outcome.True here with fog. Morons (yes morons)...
1. Don't think you need to slow down,
2. There can't possibly be any one ahead slowed or stopped 50th into the fog. Just not possible ("I'm the only one on the road or on earth" person.)
Not much different when it snows for way too many. ("I can drive fast in anything.") Sure you've dealt with it countless times.
Yeah. Once my eyes are fixed (second of four contemplated procedures set for next Friday), I’ll start using my status as the parent of an airline employee and be able to fly to those gigs at little cost. I really need to see Ken in New York and Roger in Providence. And our buddy Brian in Philly. And hopefully @bobyoung53 when I’m in Boston (unless he’s back in Peru).
I wonder if Angus could help. They figured out the key to his tone was his wireless.New experiment about to happen. My wireless is apparently obsolete, so I had to chase down an obsolete second transmitter to have one for the Thunderbird and another for the doghouse. It saves a second or so swapping them on stage and eliminates a little messing around and potential problems. The experiment is output matching. A Thunderbird has a stronger signal than a piezo pickup like the one on the upright. Instead of twiddling knobs, I can program in more gain from the transmitter. For now, I added 10db. Too much? Not enough? Don't know yet and won't know for a few weeks. It will be agonizing to wait that long.

Get a db meter app for your phone. Get an adapter and measure at the receiver output, or just use the phone mic a set distance in front of your speaker cab.New experiment about to happen. For sure, with my cover band I'm running stainless rounds these days. The Ripper with the SD pickup at the bridge can growl nicely.well, aren't they supposed to?...I'm pretty lucky that I have time to change basses between songs but frankly, the round wound sound dominates our sets so I do it the other way around, I turn the tone down on the rounds or (less common) switch basses....
Right on - didn't know you are playing upright! I always run a separate preamp or HPF between the peizo and amp. That can help balance levels.I wonder if Angus could help. They figured out the key to his tone was his wireless.
You are absolutely right! They are both lovely and talented ladies. The one to left sang a lot of harmonies, and lead on Some Kind of Wonderful. The young lady in the middle sang lead on several tunes, including Sweet Child of Mine and Black Velvet, She is quite young, but completely at ease on stage and singing lead. Great folks to be working with. You been holding out on us brother. Sure like the ladies….
Doppio Zero. Too bad I didn't take a photo of the fried calzone. Think beignet stuffed with tomato, burrata, and meat.Capitola rules.....
