Thunderbird Club

The VP has Thunderbuckers, correct? Leave ‘em. I’d not want to mess with the Greco pickups. But that’s just me. And the ‘64? Not sure without hearing those pickups more. If it were me, I’d get another Thunderbird, maybe an EPI IV circa ‘14 or thereabouts with the 1.5 neck and put them in that. YMMV. Tell Sharon I say you need another Thunderbird. You’re welcome.
Correct on the VP. I just want to add a mudbucker into one of my favorite sounding birds to give even more tonal possibilities. That way I can better channel my inner Jack Bruce, however poorly that IJB may play in comparison to the Real Deal. The other pickups would be unscathed.

Hey, all. This guy has the whole album up to preview. Love to know what you think.

Congratulations Ken on being part of a special project. I streamed the album driving home from Westwood after more eye appointment stuff. Excellent bass playing my man. Just excellent. I counted at least five tracks where your tone was spot on with what I prefer.

I’ll listen to it a few more times and PM you with some impressions if you would like. I do think that your lines are, for the most part, superior to what James recorded on the album he did in ‘20 (which is a really good album IMO).

I’ve mentioned our new station in Bako that also streams over the net. You and Brian should look into getting them to play you guys. The music fits right in with what they’re doing.

You guys can get some play there and come out for a tour!

Any interaction with this album is an eye appointment!

Good stuff and great playing! I just did a skim while waiting on a client, but I like all the bits I heard.

ThunderBuckers and a SideWinder.
I’m all set.
Don’t need any other TBird.
Ok, a 60’s NR and a BiCen. 😂

Meanwhile I gotta J in the shop being worked on. :smug:

Gotta say again I am in love with the ‘77. The tone. The neck. The low action I’m able to dial in. The look. The relative light weight. It was expensive. But worth every penny. You only live once. Unless you’re a vampire. Or maybe an alien

I’m an alien, so I’ll live on somehow.

Is this kind of what you have in mind? **Not my bass. Stole the pic from a post years ago.**

What makes this bass rip isn't the Mudbucker, it's re eqing your amp the that little holy terror by the bridge.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments, Marshall! I'd love some impressions when you have a chance ("I don't do impressions; I'm a doctor.") And thanks for the lead on the radio show. I'll definitely pass that on to James.

That is good to know. I have a nice 7ender PJ that could be awesome with the right J pickup. Jeff gave me options. But since I’m pretty much like Will, it hasn’t been addressed yet. It’s on the list. My goal is to get every one of the twenty something basses I have be the best they can be. It takes time and spare cash. But it’ll happen now that I have time.
