Thunderbird Club

Hey, all. This guy has the whole album up to preview. Love to know what you think.

Digging it big time! What's your rig here?

I listened to it earlier and like it a lot. I haven't listened multiple times yet, so I don't have anything all that meaningful to say. That won't stop me. It never does. The bass sounds great. It's black and turquoise like a Thunderbird should be. Through a different amp, there could be a bit more green in the sound. Through a B-15 it has a little more blue. It doesn't have electric blue around the edges, but that's hard to get to come through. Stop time is tight, which is always a whole lot of fun. Some of the mix was a bit more cluttered than I prefer. Volume and arrangement changes where it goes from cluttered to sparse and back are great. I generally like sparser arrangements with each instrument playing more, rather than lots of instruments playing less, but that's my own personal take on the world and not a knock on other ways of making music.
Thanks, Will! Wish I could understand all those colors. I wonder what playing the rainbow sounds like.

Thanks, Miles! Thunderbird with 2001 TB+ -> EHX Steel Leather -> Damnation Audio MBD -> miked B-15. Last song, Who Asked You, was my old Damnation Audio MBD-1, cranked, instead of the current MBD. They fattened up my tone for the recording, but my preferred tone is usually sharper and punchier.

I indulged a bit and had a small run of cds printed. The local library bought one and it's in their "progressive rock" section so mission accomplished before I turn 50!

That was meant for Richard, not George...blind and senile. What a combination. Can I throw in tone deaf for the trifecta?
Wait a minute - Richard or George - Which one is blind and which one is senile?
I’m probably older than Richard so senile works for me, but I do wear glasses so I can take blind if Richard wants senile, heck I can even do tone deaf in a pinch if I have to.

Yeah, that was my experience with the VP. I like the 64 (sparkle bird) pickups better than the 760s but like the Thunderbucker VP even bit better most days.
I have Thunderbuckers in my 2001 Natural Gibson, they came with it when I got the bass. He had done most all the mods I normally do. It’s one of my favorites, and getting some live action tomorrow .

Huh?

(Does that help?)

to sound that good, those amps only have thermal (no DC) protection meaning a discrepancy at the output usually results in a (or many) fried voice coil, has happened to me....hopefully you didn't break anything....
That ain't good. Cabs continue to sound normal here and they never made an odd sound when used. Waiting for MF to process refund.

Absolutely love it Ken.
Really well done in all aspects.

What I've had a chance to list to is well done!

I was on the news staff at WREK (Ga Tech student station). I did an interview with the police chief after a problem. Campus police policy got changed as a result but I also got slammed by the station's assistant GM for the tone of the interview. Worth it. I ran something else I was proud of that evening that also caused me problems, but can't recall off the top of my head now what it was.
Oh the fun I coulda had with those call letters.

I'm having a hard time deciding where to add the mudbucker - Greco, VP, or 64. With either of the latter it would be paired with Thunderbuckers.
The VP has Thunderbuckers, correct? Leave ‘em. I’d not want to mess with the Greco pickups. But that’s just me. And the ‘64? Not sure without hearing those pickups more. If it were me, I’d get another Thunderbird, maybe an EPI IV circa ‘14 or thereabouts with the 1.5 neck and put them in that. YMMV. Tell Sharon I say you need another Thunderbird. You’re welcome.

ThunderBuckers and a SideWinder.
I’m all set.
Don’t need any other TBird.
Ok, a 60’s NR and a BiCen. 😂

Meanwhile I gotta J in the shop being worked on. :smug:
