Thunderbird Club

Every cow and dog you own and every deer, snake, turkey, skunk, chipmunk I own. Then after hearing you will be shy some animals and some brain cells and can at that one one of life's regrets. Especially the brain cells and the sounds. especially the sounds.
I'll take my beef and new pets shipped UPS and not FedMess please. :roflmao:
I raise you 250 chickens.

Uh, ok. I sorta “saw,”/heard them at Cal Jam. Worst experience of my life. I still want my money back. I think it was like $10.00. Maybe $12.00?
Stoned out of my gourd, I ate a bunch of fritos with no drink. Made it to a toilet to lose the fritos, then wandered around the Omni for most of the concert, unable to figure out how to get to the seating (open passages are difficult if you’re fried enough). I vaguely recall the first 10-15 minutes and the last 5-10. My friends said it was a great concert.

Ok, took the 300 and 500 to church. Both have some buzz, the 300 noticeably has more. Seems to get louder at higher volumes. Both do most buzz with the tube on. Found my old seems to get into creamy OD easier, which is not what is supposed to happen with the improved tube stage on the IVs. In a live setting I would hardly ever, if ever notice the buzz on the 300, but at home it's annoying and is likely going back. Really, really hate that. Sounded really good and I got a great deal. No one has one around here to see how normal my buzz level is. Not drastically more than the 500, but definitely more. While there I fired up the Ampeg, not the slightest sound at idle.

@TBird1958 Before I box it up, can you confirm yours is quite when unmuted and and a bass connected? Even so, what Chuck and Miles said just sounds right about sending it back. Hard to not follow such informed advise.

Mine is very quiet, it will make a little hum if I'm right in front of it with a bass, otherwise its very good. I think you should send it back, but give a new one a try if you can.

Here's the new Rex Brown Signature Thunderbird in Gibson format. Didn't like the stock "brite wire" Gibson strings, so they were replaced with some Dunlop Super Bright Stainless Steels. Love the tonal options of the Rex.... active and passive. Bass sounds massive in passive mode... and even more massive in active mode. And the cherry on top is the Hipshot D tuner.... something the other sig models like Gene Simmons and standard Birds didn't have. I play a lot in drop D... so it's very convenient.

Thanks on confirming. Yes, seems the only thing to do. And wait for another good deal down the road.
They MF said it was under warranty and I could send it in (someplace in Cal), which would cost in shipping (likely return as well), and desk fee to bring to close to a brand new one and my discounted returned item would be a pointless and no longer a deal.

Speaking of which - does anyone here have a spare black Epiphone Tbird truss rod cover they’d be willing to part with?
The one from the broken ‘64 is a little damaged at the bottom but not terrible. I had planned on keeping it for an extra.

My white VP currently has one that Irv made, with a decal that says “Epiphone by Gibson”. I “think” I have an original one for the white VP. I know it did not have a TRC when I bought it.

If I have an original one for my white VP, I can pass the one from the broken’64 to you.

Love me some stainless Superbrights! SIT Power Steels are also nice. My two main go to strings.

Those are beautiful birds! Probably the best looking stock bird on the market. Would love to hear one in action or play one sometime, would love even more to own one!
Congrats on the excellent selection.

If you can swing it, that would be fantastic!
Recall that there are a couple different sizes.
It’s a wide neck Eppi LECS so just about any Eppi cover will work. I’ll need to check the VP and ‘64 which both have significantly larger headstocks to see if they are a fit, but I suspect they’ll work ok as well.
