Thunderbird Club

For some reason the digital mixer always reduces the volume on the bass during recording. It doesn't cut the volume through the monitor. So, no idea what's up given all the other issues that mixer has (sliders going to zero for no reason, stopping recording of some inputs, volume changes). Technology isn't always the answer.
That explains it.

Is the mixer or pilot error?
Maybe the recording is pre-eq, while what you're hearing live in the monitor is post-eq.

G&L has been circling around the drain for a while. They supposedly shut down yesterday and laid off the employees (who were told to go home a week ago). There are rumblings that Fender closed a deal for G&L this AM. Ray @/\/\3phist0 any insight?
Interesting. I'm not really surprised. Quality is great. Second to a tiny few--even on the Indonesian Tributes, or was. Seems they have more of the Tributes on various seller's sites by a lot, so I can see the need to cut back workers here. I'm kind of amazed they are still around given their limited customer base, compared to other builders, and you rarely see people using them in pro acts. Happens, but rare.

G&Ls, while far more versatile, just never caught on like MMs (one of the first active basses), which I find is a one trick pony if ever a bass was. Great basses, but they only do what they do well. Pretty limited compared even to Pbass IMO. Fantastic if that's what one wants, so I'm not dissing MMs.

G&L out of business?

No hint on their website, of course.

Were I looking to branch out from Thunderbirds, a G&L would be high on my list to check out, given how happy I was with my Legacy Tribute (Strat).

None at this point to support or refute Fender deal.
Those that I have connection with:
Have left Fender: or were just let go from G&L :-( (RIP)

At this stage, negotiations stay behind closed doors till official announcement
IE: deal is all said and done.

Secretary used to work in a law office and it was something like per minute in the formula she used. I get it, time is money. My time is not money. I always figured if anyone ever questioned my work habits I would tell them it would likely go like this. I would keep track a couple weeks, provide the numbers, and begin working 40s a week. Fortunately I've never have my work ethic questioned. Well, there was one guy, but he couldn't keep a job more than a year. He didn't understand my job and apparently none of his.
I am sure looking forward to a day when my time doesn't have a price.

totally, great food as well.... now curious as to what @TBird1958 the Queen means by so"California ".....
Maybe that it would leak like a sieve if it was someplace with a lot of rain. Ford Theater in LA could only be in California. The whole place would collapse in a heap of mud if it was up here in the great North Wet.

The MIJ Tributes knock the socks off the Indonesian variants.
And are hard to find.

MM’s, always have a place in my heart, and living room for one. :smug:

I played some US ones while I was also seriously shopping for a Ric 4003. This was around ‘17/‘18. They were very nice players. I have no idea about the imported ones. At the end of the day I couldn’t get past the ugly headstock. I’m shallow. I suspect some certain US models will increase in value now. I know you have a couple, or at least did?

From what I hear from those who retire is they have less time. Weird.
Depends on how one approaches time. I've always felt time has a high price regardless of a job or what one does outside of the job in life. I find myself using the phrase "...life's too short" more these days.
