1965 Gibson Thunderbird II

Might be a bit high given the missing TRC and both covers. That’s about what I paid for a 64 with all original bits.

So, my tongue in cheek justification to my long suffering luthier friend who has seen quite a few of my instruments come his way owing to trussed adjustments over long term storage (loosening for guitars and tightening for the basses), and the third instrument of the same make is revealed in as many weeks is-

He's never said anything but I would respond with-

"Because it was white (or red, or black)!!"

His reply- "You already have a black one!!"

They have a whole stack of them. I can walk to Mike & Mike. There's a reason I avoid that place. I like eating regularly and sleeping inside.

Just noticed that the 409 area code is Beaumont, TX which we'll be driving through on the way back to Seabrook, TX Could stop by then but we would have driven about 7-8 hours - probably ought to wait and until we get home. Then I could rest up, and make the 1.5 hour drive back east to have a look. That is if it hasn't sold by then.

I have seen a Binson echo machine like they used. I think it was called an Echoplex or something close. They weren't the usual tape delay but instead had a magnetized disk with multiple read, write, and erase heads. Those are almost as strange as a TelRay oil echo. They have a slightly delicate and flammable quality to them that is a little spooky. It would be fun to have one to play with to see what it would do, if it could even be made to work these days. But then there are a zillion things that would be fun that I will also never get around to. Besides, those old machines are insanely expensive if you can even find one.

"Echorec". We used one in a band I was in ~70-72.

It’s an easy peasy meal to make, just takes time. But boy does it taste good.



I only use New Zealand lamb for shanks and roast. A lot of the lamb here in the US is actually mutton, quite different in taste and texture (not in a good way).

I’ll vote for Aussie lamb.

Not really. I dont really have a preference as I've only made a couple templates thus far.

Just had some the right thickness and size handy to cut a sample cover.

I recently watched a video where a guy used a piece of masonite as a mounting piece/template for filing an aftermarket pickguard replacement on a P-bass and I wondered "Where did he get that from?"

Forgot to mention the brand of pick guard I used for the recent upgrade on my Candy Cola American Standard Fender P-Bass. It was Music Lily which cost me $ 16.62 on Amazon. Having read reviews on fitting American Standards well and that the most recent ones had the relief notch for the trussrod at the base of the neck, I decided to give it a shot despite some mixed reviews. In my case it was a good fit and saved me around 60 dollars. Pricing on eBay for the new Fender part ranged from 74 to 76 dollars-

Sounded like your memory was working just fine.
Seems to have been a lot of watts for the sq ft. Not knocking the gig or size, but that seemed like overkill watt-wise. Not that it sounded bad.

Thanks, and exactly what it was, tiny room and wattage to the point of (painful) compression by the room.....not surprisingly, not impressed with the sound company , I think their background was more DJ setups and parties....

Went to the gym in Cantonment, Florida today with mom for the first since early this year or late last year. By the time we returned to the Pensacola area, the furniture store next door had finished their liquidation sale and gone out of business to be replaced by an antique and collectibles store/thrift shop.

So while mom was browsing for things she was interested in, I took a gander at these. Enjoy ....

Now this one I had to photograph because of the cover's cultural significance - I have no idea of the artists or content, ddn't want to keep mom waiting too long! I'm guessing this was from the swinging-60's. Just thought of something- I wonder if Sergio Aragones or other Mad Magazine alumni had anything to do with the background art?
