Zactly.... as amazing as it may seem, if you don't have to lock with a drummer, it's easier to play stuff that sounds flashy......4 minutes of this on the other hand.....4 notes, no alternate tunings, effects etc......

I never 'got' her appeal. Then again, I'm sure my preferences would be in the minority.

Love her voice and the music, a lot of which has great simple groove to it, this being a prime example, the bass is plowing a simple, almost hypnotic groove about a mile wide, very upfront and present. It might sound simple, but playing it so consistent for the duration of the song is quite difficult. It's easy to lose your concentration and start thinking about stuff like HVAC or Root Beer and then the groove goes to $%#@ - Yeah, that didn't happen here.

Love that song, but I’d be tempted to use a looper for about 3 minutes of it while I take a drink break.

Not that you even implied otherwise, but I would think to do that riff no telling how many times in that song without missing something incredibly difficult to do. Impossible for me. With some changes you can cover yourself, but something like that where everyone is expecting the same thing is just impressive to me. But I had a crappy teacher!

I'm glad they are feeding the help, but is that what I think it is? I'm not knocking it as I haven't tried it. But let's say if you swing by and help me with the leaves or something we'll take care of you.

Jeff is an excellent gardener and cabana boy.

Had a few minutes and did a quick buff (after sanding last weekend) with some ultra-cut on the back to just see how it was going to go and look. I think the phone was focusing on the tire not the bass.

I'll get into this Saturday. That's the plan anyway.

Great idea! Along the lines of the Knack and their “Get the Knack.” Marketing genius. But they were bubblegum disguised as power pop. The Unfamiliar would need to be something new and refreshing. It could work!

A four piece bass band! Gig opening song would typically include an upright, a reverse TN, and NR TB, and the GEO Odd Duck Bass of the Day. There would be a roadie whose only job was to guard against poachers the basses not being played at the moment.

The LP it is from is just ok - this is the best song. The first part reminds me of Christopher Cross who you recently posted his big hit "Sailing". Mellow, as you alluded to - easy listening music. The second part is more interesting, a slow build into a rockin' repeat groove. I also like the vid - the subject, the way it's shot (B&W/split screen) and how it follows the woman across town, possibly on her way home from work. The camera's POV is not 'stalking', but chronicling her journey.

They get into it a bit more in this live recording. A good drummer and I like the subtle way he cues the stops, which are always hard to count the longer they are.

Why is most "easy listening" music so hard for me to listen to?
