I believe the jokes on me, it would have been all over the news by now. Apparently this is the second time its happened but Im catching it for the first time. I gathered it was a hoax when listening to another club members link, the guy speaking sounded like a fn' moron so that kind of solidified that it was fake for me.

It's a droll internet 'thing' - "such and such died today" Doesn't help matters that "get off my lawn" Clint looks like hell at his age. Tony Bennet is 90 yrs old and still performing and looking great. A positive attitude in life goes a long way.

Slight derail.

The tranquil bliss of Morro Bay.
The wine tasting turned me into the howling wolf at 11a.m.

So had my audition. The singer was on time and asked me if I wanted to go to the bar across the street for a beer before the rest showed up. The room they practice in is actually an apartment over a closed auto parts store. They also have a custom painted Winnebago from their US tour a couple of years ago.

I carry my Trace combo and extension cable to set up and the only free spot in this 15x15 room was in between a Marshall stack and an Orange stack. I had the thing cranked to keep up and thank God I brought m preamp and compressor. These guys played beyond loud and during the first song, I felt a sound wave hit me so bad, I almost passed out.

I knew the four songs and after that they just hit me with songs that they are writing and expected me to learn then on the spot. Some stuff I did better than others and one guitarist liked some arpeggios I threw in on a song. They sound like Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity, Alice in Chains and GnR. I have to say they are really good and you can tell they practice their asses off. I do feel that I held my own and played well.

At the end, they said it was good and will let me know after they finish auditions. One guitarist and the drummer were very positive and said that I picked up stuff fast, especially that I learned 4 songs in three days. The singer and other guitarist seemed ambivalent and vauge.

Will I hear back, who knows and not going to sweat it. I made sure that I thanked them for having me come down and left it at that.
If nothing else, it was a chance to play with a very skilled band. They did like the Thunderbird and the Epiphone did a good job. Never even opened up the Fender.

My band's singer hasn't found out if he will be able to sing again and his hearing cuts in and out in one ear. It sucks just spinning my wheels after putting a ton of time into my band,. Will see what happens.

Auditions are what they are - you come with your best shot and either it results in something or not. Too hard to read peoples minds in such a short period of time. Having a positive response from the drummer (as we all know) is the most important person to connect with, but as we also know singers and guitarists can be... ambivalent and vague (self centered).
What is best will be, however it ends up. :bassist:

Yeah two had the rock star mentality and not necessarily a bad thing to have. I'm sure it is also hard to replace a long term member and he might have been really good buddies with him and now he has to replace him. I didn't think it was a good idea to ask what happened to the old bassist, and they didn't bring it up either. I'm not expecting a call and if I do, will take it from there. Nothing of the business end came up and I have a great deal of questions before making any decisions.

Perfect outlook, really. If they call you , great. if not, your next band is out there.

Sounds right, as long as that's not the buggy season. My daughter wants to go on the Hobbit expedition, when it comes to vacations I'm all about the outdoors, natural scenery and wilderness which the Kiwis have in spades. City sights, art and culture are cool too but I'm just not as fond of big crowds and the hustle/bustle of city life, I get enough of that on a regular day.
