Thunderbird Club

There should be 'Bird Book, kind of laid out like an Audubon album, or a Sibley' s Book of Birds.

Not gonna do it, maybe @TBird1958 ?...

Can't think of a more qualified, better-plumed 'bird for the gig!

I think Rob (Basvarken) that put the Gibson Bass Book together would be my choice.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but kindness goes a long way. Just sayin' I've kinda been there.
Good luck with the gig though!
The good thing is that I can still book gigs with the tribute act if not playing out. I have not talked business with these guys and all I know is they did an East coast tour and a national tour. I did make sure to be polite, professional and agreeable. My attitude is if I don't get a gig, it's a small community and a good rep is important.

I am somewhat relieved* that there is no cherry. I already put myself on the hook for a Red JC when those are released. If there were a cherry `Bird, I would have to get one of those also. I really didn't feel a need to expand out to 6 basses so quickly.

*Relieved meaning feeling somewhat fiscally responsible, but still secretly hoping that a cherry bird comes from either Epiphone or Gibson in the next year or so.

So I took some time off today. It was 106 in Sacto. Stayed inside. Worked on some songs. Played here on TB. Took a bit of a nap. Woke up with this thought: Epi, overwhelmed by the positive response to the Vintage, decides to do a limited run of NRs with the vintage hardware and electronics. They offer it in Pelham Blue and TV Silver. If only...I'm probably delusional.

Replace it with one of these?

@Goalee1

I toyed with starting a political party. It would be a 1 policy party for the NSW Upper House. I was to call it "Abolish the Legislative Council Party".

The growth of silly little parties had been such that the voting paper for the LC was about a yard across... and the old rules for Parlimentary privileges were still in.

Anyway couldn't be bothered in the end.

Was in a band with 2 guitars, drums and a singer. One of the guitarists was hopeless, he spent all his time listening to Santana and John McLaughlin and could play lead lines but couldn't hold down a rhythm to save himself. He was ousted in a bloodless coup and the singer became the second guitarist - kept the singer out of trouble and instantly made us 100% better (as well as no more hippy guitaring - maybe that's 300%).

These days I'm more inclined to a 3 piece althought that requres either a guitarist who sings or a drummer (but some people have problems with the aesthetic of a singing drummer).
Again with the aesthetics? Phuggem! Rare Earth, Eagles, Night Ranger... they all managed to pay the bills and be remembered...

OMG!!!!!!!
LOOKY LOOKY LOOKY!!!

I'm completely with John Goodman there mate.

Sorry to be so coldly dismissive of he-who-shall-not-be-named, but y'now I dislike everything about him and his band. He is the anti-Duck.

If there were a bass-player Heaven, I'd like to be in the one with Duck, Ron Blair and Billy Talbot (oh and John Entwistle, Ronnie Lane, Bruce Foxton, Phil Lynott, Trevor Bolder and George Murray). The 'Heaven' with he-who-shall-not-be-named, Les Claypool and JacoP? I believe that has another name ... also beginning with 'H'.

But à chacun son goût, as they say. It would be a dull world if we all liked the same thing.
 First time in my 47 years on this planet, that I have ever heard a bass player say anything remotely negative about Geddy OR Jaco:eek:

Of course you're entitled to it & all that... I just don't know how to react! What's protocol? *<madly flipping through the handbook>*

If anything... this adds to my fascination with you:wideyed:
