…and speaking of the Gibson EB, I finally finished my version of a Gibson NR (since I really do not like the NR look):

Sent my 2013 EB to Pat Wilkins to make it actually “white” instead of the “white” that Gibson made it:

I’d call the original color a pale yellow. And matte finish to boot, yuk.

I loaded it with a set of Gibson reissues out of a 2021 NR (hence my referral to calling this an NR) and since the pickups are really low in the body, I had @Engle make me some thin spacers for the ring that is at the bridge pickup. Using a standard spacer put the ring pretty much level with the pickup, but a spacer that’s is the same as a pickguard works just right. And the rings are double stick taped to the body and pickguard, with screw heads glued in place.

I know there a lot of love for the DeColas here, but the super strong magnetic pull from them made getting low action on this impossible. Once I put in these Gibson reissues, the bass practically set itself up. The action is super low, and there is hardly any buzz, even when digging in.

Appreciate that, but, they’re famous, and they were cool when they were young and carried the cool with them all the way through (except maybe some 80’s stuff, but that kinda happened to everyone) to now.

I’d say we’re cool (both my bands) for guys our age and grateful that at least our friends will still get out every so often to see us.

I love that we’re drought free for the first time in 25 years.

I have seen a bald eagle at Big Bear. This is the time of year you can occasionally see them.

Yeah, well, there has to be enuff water for fish to swim in to attract eagles.

as part of the divorce settlement with Doris Duke....he actually escaped death from
Trujillo after dumping his daughter....sharp cookie...lived bit to far from where he ate it in his Ferrari (pre collapsible steering columns) in Bois Boulogne.....iirc, there's a plaque there now....

We have many bald eagles in my neighborhood and surrounding area. Small dogs should not be left out unattended.

They look a bit like our Sea Eagles. They nest on the cliffs around Sydney Harbour (wherever they want really!).

IIRC, he was seen around Miami a lot in the 50's-60's.

My band TSC had a gig at Winters' in Pacifica on my B-day (J1) the year I turned 64, and we learned and played that song that day. Haven't played it since!
