That’s the default meaning, at least around here. Most Thunderbird pickups don’t give you an option for series/parallel internally.I assumed we were talking about one pickup wired in series with a second pickup.

And no wooden structure to stretch and contract with the climate.Yep, no strings to stretch out of shape.
Exactly, I am trying to sell locally without much luck. Finding an Explorer locally, I'll just have to be patient, maybe stop by some Pawn Shops.I’m passively looking for a destroyer as well.
These days I’m just buying local instead of online. (I should be selling)
While I was looking this one came up.
It will still poke your eye out

I vibrated a picture off the wall with a Thunderbird and a Rumble 100. Oops.I always ran it though my Sunn Concert Bass and 215M cab. You could vibrate pictures off the wall with that.
AHEMThe Rhodes Bass is just a low section of the piano. I don't think it sounds 'bass-y' enuff. My Rheem* Kee Bass sounds a lot bassier. (It gets about as much use as Dave's piano-namely none)

This is the same thing as used in DEVO's "Whip It". But the sound when he 'fingers' it is NOT from the Kee Bass.
*Yes, the AC people.

Now I want to do that to a Thunderbird.Very retro contemporary design. Maybe the way the picture is taken, but those frets don’t look fanned to my eye. Is it also a headless bass? If so, you really need to magnetically attach a removable dummy Tbird headstock that can pop off on que just to mess with the Tbird haters out there.![]()
I s'pose I coulda said "plays it" but where's the fun in that?AHEM
Gots me something similar. The Rhodes Bass is just a low section of the piano. I don't think it sounds 'bass-y' enuff. My Rheem* Kee Bass sounds a lot bassier. (It gets about as much use as Dave's piano-namely none)

I had one of these briefly and really liked it. Balanced really well and pretty similar neck profile to my 2014 T- Bird.Ya'll inspired me to pick up my J yesterday, a beautiful, assembled with top notch components, and great playing/sounding J bass. Nope, it's just never going to beat out my white VP for home practice, and will never see a gig. Nice bass though.
I am passively looking for an Exlorer bass, just need to figure out which one to target. It seems the 80's with alder body are heavier, the 2000's are Korina with longer scale, and the Eppies are supposedly good basses, but the prices are pretty high.
Not much talk on Talkbass or on-line comparing them though. So if anyone has any input, or can point me to an article I'd appreciate it.
Needs a Thunderbird logo and bridge cover.
Interesting how you can see the coils through the potting on both pickups. I have seen TB+ pickups with some kind of extension below the coils and others that look like a shiny epoxy surface with no indication of what's underneath.I have a set of TB+ I’d sell for cheap, if you want a pair to play with. One is a brand new one and one is from my ‘97. The other original pickup in the ‘97 was bad when I bought the bass.

I always thought the Aria brand explorer was a fun looking bass, lots of neat paint jobs on them. No idea how they sound or feel…I’m passively looking for a destroyer as well.

This is mine, I actually haven't been able to spend much time with since I got it about 4 months ago, it's from a run Epiphone did for AMS and ZZ Sounds a few years back. It its long scale with a stout neck, a bit bigger than a VP, it feels like a big bass and it is! I can't say that I've heard a lot about these specifically, my original intent was to put some different pickups in mine but, as it turns out, the previous owner had installed a Preamp and rewired it, and it sounds quite good as it is now. So, for the time being I'll leave it alone tho I may install some different knobs on it, the current ones don't do much for me.
At one point I owned an '80s Gibson, it was 32" scale, it was "OK" but nothing too inspiring tone wise and I ended up using it as trade fodder for a Thunderbird. Gibson Re-issued them as a long scale bass, essentially a pointy Thunderbird, with a 3 Point and TB Plus pickups, I kinda want one, but I'm hoping some form of common sense will prevail as I'm running out of space for these things.

I've got the newish Epi and that Korina they used feels like balsa wood. I got mine cheap with a snapped headstock and I did a spline repair.Ya'll inspired me to pick up my J yesterday, a beautiful, assembled with top notch components, and great playing/sounding J bass.
