No way my brain could handle all that. I don’t know how you all do it.That's awesome! Having often felt the need for them with guitar, what I love about playing the bass is no pedals! Except perhaps these on occasion-

As opposed to the guitar- though mind you this is covering a gamut of sounds from clean jazz to full on hard rock/metal in one setting-

But love playing bass with little to nothing between the instrument and amp-
It took a while but essentially I have two channels- one clean (bottom row) and one for overdriven/distortion looped after the Boss LS-2 line selector. That way I don't have to do the Fred Astaire (and maybe Ginger Rogers too!) on the various pedals to switch sounds. Then I can bypass them all except the pedals before and after the LS-2 loops, which they would be the Ernie Ball Wah pedal, one Boss NS-2 noise suppressor (the other being in the overdrive loop), the Photon Death Ray compressor, and the Boss RV-5 stereo reverb. No way my brain could handle all that. Back in 2022 I wrote them about the possibility of an Alpine Whiter Explorer bass with gold hardware- they were polite but said that the Custom Shop does not take requests for basses, just guitars ...Don't hold your breath. JT told me back in '23 he went by Gibson Custom Shop one day and they mentioned they were working on one and he got to play it the prototype. Nothing from Gibson since. Maybe there's some business "logic" that makes you sit on a great idea and not seek to make some money from your RD, etc. Word was it was going to be pricey. Likely trying to figure out how they can get "Les Paul Bass" into the name.
I was perplexed too when I first heard them described by the other kids at school. They are generally dug with a bulldozer to collect rainwater for livestock to drink from- hence the term "stock tank". Ours were also spring fed and never dried out, even during drought seasons, given we had a lot of ground water.Stock tanks? From you description we just call them dams.
Right around the LS-2 I just glaze right over...It took a while but essentially I have two channels- one clean (bottom row) and one for overdriven/distortion looped after the Boss LS-2 line selector. At least I think that's what's going on- I'll have to make a flow chart sometime!
Any more I would prefer to have the pedal confections go in at the board via nice rack units-Right around the LS-2 I just glaze right over...![]()
Actually I prefer this-Right around the LS-2 I just glaze right over...![]()

Because bass player dollars are worth less...?Because bass player dollars are worth less...?
well.... not to give a wrong impression about this club or anything like that....Here is the original pencil of Lenore which rendered a softer, warmer expression, though imbued with a hint of mischief, as she reflected on her recent pranking of Caleb- this I had originally planned to pair with the caption, "That'll teach you. ... though aren't you the innocent one!"

But by the time Garrett got her inked, she took on the harder, more seductive look of the Viking character she had role played- hence the more enticing words I used for the final caption-
Thanks for sharing! I'll check it out- Your mention of Song of the South made me think of this- and there's one of those SG- shaped basses - an E- something- sorry I can't keep track of them-Just watched this tonight from Amazon Prime. Really good. About the music not the drama.
