Do they sound great in this bass, yes they do. Do they sound like '64 Gibson, not really. That said, other reproductions may not either. Then again, my '64 Epiphone Embassy with the same Gibson pups doesn't sound like my '64 Thunderbird either.

Oh wow what a stunning looking bass. With my upcoming trip and looking at the basses I might be able to get my hands on I was thinking last night I would just find the tbird that feels the best then change pickups or whatever depending on what I want (more so if it was a post 88 gibson) and came across these pickups. My mind started dreaming of early 2000's sunburst Tbird with all gold hardware....gold pickups and pickup surrounds. Don't know if I have ever seen that.

Anyway it being brighter isn't too much of an issue for me. I did hear someone else's review where they compared the pickup directly to the epiphone 760's and I thought the 760 sounded a little more old school tbird but the 916 had a wonderful musical depth to them.

Do you happen to have any recordings of that red beauty?

Saw them open for Yes a couple times and as a headliner once.

That Yes Tour was a little sad for me. Wakeman had already said he was done (again) and it showed. He obviously didn’t want to be there. It was at the Anaheim Convention Center, a step down from them playing the Hollywood Bowl and the Forum. Anderson split when that tour was over and it was the end of the band I fell in love with as a kid. For awhile anyway. But it was never really the same after that.
