Tim - keep us posted on the outcome of the tap test. I don’t think you have single coils, but it’s a Gibson, so who knows?
I definitely have continuous 58-59 Hz hum (detected by a tuner app on my phone that has freq. readout) with either or both volume controls up. Wearing the bass on a strap, I can rotate and get the bass in a position where the hum all but goes away (exactly like every other single coil pickup equipped bass I’ve owned), but if I turn a few degrees either way, it comes up quickly.

I’ve spent hours and days shielding and grounding this bass. Nothing I’ve done has changed the hum in the slightest. That’s why I’m convinced the pickups are single coil or have only one of the two coils connected to the leads.

By the way, the DC resistance of the pickups are;
Bridge: 9.37 K ohms
Neck: 9.27 K ohms

I have good continuity between the sleeve of a cable plugged in the output jack to the bridge & even to the tuner posts. 0.2 ohms between the jack ground and bridge, 0.6 ohms between the jack ground and tuner posts (continuity through DR coated strings…)

Need some help from Mr. Wizard. I am no longer getting notifications on new posts. I end up 5+ pages behind. I have looked at settings and nothing appears to work. Any suggestions? It went from getting an email after a few posts since my last visit, to a notification for every post, to no notifications at all.
I don’t worry about being notified. I just check in every morning 🤣 and then look at the top line, there is an image of my little picture thingy (name escapes me)*. It usually has a number there alerting me of actions in threads I participate in. I just click it and it gives me the info and I just go from there.

My issue is I get busy and then the message counter says 148 this morning. There is no way to figure out where to start as the list doesn’t go back that far.
When I’m multi pages behind in this thread, I use the “Jump to New” at the top. Seems to work well, though I sometimes go back a page from there just to confirm I haven’t missed anything.

Great tune. Thanks ,I didn't know about those guys. Love that the singer in the car had to slide the seat all the way forward to reach the peddles. :)
Cheers!
Yeah “Angry” Anderson is very short, 5’ 1” or 5’ 2”; something like that.
But no pedals where he was sitting, the big bald dude on the right hand side was driving.

Rose Tattoo are a longstanding band, started recording on Albert’s (same label as AC/DC & The Angels) back in the mid 1970s. Guns N Roses talk about Rose Tatts as an influence.
Angry’s previous band “Buster Brown” had AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd in it.

Their first single was Bad Boy For Love; which I still love to this day.

You may have missed my earlier post describing how to confirm if you have single coils using a tap test. Check it out, I think it will answer your questions.

Yes, and if I were designing/building an aesthetically 'modern' vibe bass, I wouldn't consider the Babicz. A bridge I like that I'm using on my latest build is the Sandberg - fully-adjustable and elegantly designed.

Used it on my last build also -

I thought that you built basses but wasn’t 100 % sure. So what do you think of individual bridge pieces such as those that are on Yamaha’s Nathan East signature bass?

Yes there is.

Save this as a bookmark on your menu or in your menu and it will take you to the first post after you finished reading.

How mine looks. Bass is a pull down, Thunderbird is a single bookmark.

Never heard of this site but it had the story. Vid in the story.

Gary Leff, a Texas-based travel expert and author of the blog "View From the Wing," did not personally observe the incident but watched the video and said that while the video may appear shocking, this type of handling is not uncommon.

"Airlines usually say behavior like this is unacceptable when a video comes out, but it’s actually fairly standard," Leff said, expressing his point of view.

I've used them on a number of my basses, a few with the Yamaha units which are well designed. There's lots of variety out there and even the least expensive work just fine. They are good for variable width string-spacing.
