Love the sound and output level on my little Markbass Mini CMV 121P combo. Slapped a grill cloth on it to hide the Tonka Toy Yellow cone speaker and logo. These things are real sleepers, massive output for such a tiny footprint.

For the Alembic lovers. Something seems off to me. Check out the screws on the pickups and case says Ibanez.

Looks completely legit to me. The Epic models were Alembics entry level models and at one time were marketed through Guitar Center. They don’t really have the full Alembic preamp and control package like the more expensive models but they still sound very nice. The pickups are a typical Alembic height and tilt adjusting type set up. The visible screws can be loosened then the open hole next to them has a hidden screw that can be raised or lowered to the desired height, when its where you want it the visible screw is tightened to lock it in place, actually works very well. The case is another story and definitely not Alembic.

On a related note, I’ve just about got the Alembic pickups and electronics layout nailed down on my latest Thunderbird build. After countless hours of pickup location testing it appears that the two best options for pup locations will be either dual humbuckers in the Mudbucker and Neck locations for a deep rich smooth sound or close to each other in the mid body position (similar to a Greco layout) for a deep biting agressive punchy sound. With the Macassar Ebony neck and maple on walnut body I’m thinking the Greco layout might be best for this bass. I really wanted black hardware on this build but I’m finding it impossible to source a black Alembic style bridge, so gold or brass it’ll probably be.

For the record, the guy (something dog?) at Subway Guitars in the east-bay (Berkeley) has had an Alembic connection for decades (whenever they started) and he always had Alembic parts basses in his shop. The seller is from Oakland so I'm sure Subway had something to do with that bass.

Contact (whatever) dog at Subway - if it exists he might have a lead on it. Otherwise, you could have the bridge anodized black.

I think his real name is Eric Griffen. Tech for the Dead back in the day. The Alembic connection runs deep in Dead World.
I was there once, many years ago. I don't recall anything jumping out for me. I should see what's there these days.
