Thunderbird Club

Been noticing the one in Simi Valley. Is that close to George or you?
Just a few miles from where I live but fortunately (for me, not so much for others) it’s moving in the opposite direction from my house. It’s about 15% contained with around 1500 acres burned so far. Mostly burning in the sparsely inhabited hills between Simi and Chatsworth, but if it breaks north or east it will hit a lot of densely populated areas. Chatsworth and Agoura Hills would be my big concerns right now. If the fire hits there it’s in Los Angeles County which has an horrendous fire response history (think Palisades Fire).

Only real impact to our house is the smoke smell so far. Miraculously, I believe it’s only consumed one home since it started, and no lives, Ventura County doesn’t mess around with fire response, it’s usually all over it instantly. Lots of equestrian properties in the area, so the horses are all being evacuated to the Ventura County Fairgrounds for safety.

I found when in band with only guitar, bass and drums, I played differently than with two guitars. Keyboard seemed less of an impact.

We have a Kern County Fire Station in Pine Mountain Club. There is a Ventura County station about ten miles away. They roll to every call.

Saw where Schlitz was halting production after 177 years. What a tragedy for all those who love nasty beer.
Maybe it was good 175 yrs ago.
I did work in the Van Nuys brewery in the 79-80. They had a tap in the lunch room. You could drink all you wanted for free. Only stipulation, you'd get fired if you were drunk on the job. Some of the old timers could down a couple pitchers and walk straight back to the line.

We went there for a 21st birthday party for a buddy. Must have been in ‘79. They closed the gardens a few weeks later IIRC.

48:28 - a poignant response from Geddy related to playing with a guitar/drums/bass trio. Both bass player & guitarists are fluidly covering dual roles - I totally identify with that need to move between bass and rhythm player playing with only one guitarist. Key's are 'sort of' a lead/rhythm element, but done right create a fourth melodic element in the mix in a quartette. .

At 52:03 they talk about their producer inspiring them with his positive energy. We (The Sean Conneries, and Bond Girl too) are lucky to have that positive energy source recording us (engineer +) here in SF. I always look forward to hangin' with Robert to record. He makes the day go so smoothly!

Nice interview.

Cool! Is that a final mix? I'm very interested in hearing what others are doing as I learn about mixing.
I'm currently reading this: The Mixing Engineer's Handbook - 5th Edition - Bobby Owsinski Home
I think it's the final mix, the title may change. Paul & Kirstin did guitar & vocal overdubs last Sunday - we initially did the instrumental recording last month. We have one song left to add lead vocals by Kirstin on and maybe more horn on another - then we can call them done.

I'd like to know more about the process, more so I can suggest things to Robert when we record.

There is a lot to learn! Bobby Owinski also wrote the Recording Engineer's Handbook.
