Thunderbird Club

I used to frequent their website listings years ago. They always had an abundance of odd ball modded stuff, some of it interesting. But I never bought from them.
I visited after seeing a few interesting basses on the website. Once there I inquired about the basses and they were all sold long ago ~(but still listed as for sale...) Kinda' soured me about making the trip.

I think his real name is Eric Griffen. Tech for the Dead back in the day. The Alembic connection runs deep in Dead World.
Once upon a time, I wanted an Alembic. Not so much now. I'm pretty happy with what I already have.

Another reason I'm a heretic who should be banned.

Here you go Dave. Can’t wait to see your setup.
Been legal here for 250 years. ;)

You can buy the equipment. There is a shop about 25 minutes from me that has been selling it for decades. Not sure what the deal is. Maybe another one of those laws that no one pays attention to.

Word to the wise when hiking in the Kentucky backwoods - stick to the official trails, if you wander off into the woods and find something you’re not supposed to find it might be the last time you ever do that. ;)
Dueling banjos and squealing?
George is right. There are some places you don't want to go (wander into). The phrase "Fool Around and Find Out" does fit in certain parts. Much of it now is weed being grown. My FIL once found a patch on his farm. State Police came and burned it.

And played Dead CDs. Weird.

Story a guy I know told the other day. His grandfather had a still in mid-Alabama and his the guy I knows Dad was always told to leave the stuff alone and away from the area. It was stored in a shack somewhat near the still and he decided he was going to try some. He found a jar and took a drink and spit it out. Told his Dad that it tasted like kerosene.
It did because he got the wrong jar and it was.

There are other, more pleasant ways to go blind :woot:

You have to be careful. The first run from the still will be methanol and that needs to be tossed. It takes some skill to know when the good stuff is coming out.

Is anyone else done with GAS? It only took me 28 years. It's kind of a melancholic feeling, don't look at the classifieds, no anticipation of a new purchase. It's a little bit like something is missing.

But with 2 Gibsons at home (1997 Thunderbird, 1969 EB3) 2 at practice (2014 Thunderbird and SG), 2 Dingwalls, a Roscoe, VP, ThunderJ, ThunderP, and a few others I've had put together, it's an embarrassment of riches, and really there's nothing more I could ask for, and no needs unmet. I do feel lucky.

I think there are meds for that. :smug:

There's not a lot I would like to have, nothing I need. I would like to do a 55ish Pbass with Thunderbird pups. I've got several parts and pups. And plenty of paint. Other than that. Oh, Chuck's Ivory BaCH II and one of Marshall's Black BaCHs. Yeah, definitely "need" those. Other than that I'm good.

I think i've cleared my GAS because i've been building my own things over the last decade +. Still some things to revamp, or finish building overall, but as far as GAS for "factory" builds, not really. I'd like to find an old Gibson Les Paul Triumph bass with a 3 point bridge & in yellow (would've been arctic white but stupidly aged & yellowed with time) cause that's the 1st bass i saw when i was a baby - the bass was my Dad's & he had it for a while after i was born. Other than that, not really anything out there old or new that i'd be GASing for.

My senior year of high school, a local sheriff’s department made a huuuge pot bust. They announced the date & location they would burn it to rid the planet of this batch of evil weed, so good folk could avoid it (or come watch upwind). Every pothead within 50 miles checked the weather and got as close as they dared downwind. By all accounts it was quite a party. All the freaks in my classes were out “sick” that day.
