Thunderbird Club

Someday I'll visit Seattle and when I do I want to race you and Frank on your track. I will accept small doses of nostalgia considering the advanced development of slot-car racing. :) Is there a copy of the late '60s winged (air-foil) Chaparral's?

We have some Porsche 917s and a Ford GT in Gulf colors............ Le Mans (the movie) was a big influence on my brother and I, our folks got us a subscription to "Road & Track" magazine and we had a substantial AFX set as kids, in the summer we'd set it up as a four lane on the garage floor and have some great fun with the neighbor kids joining in.
The Carrera set we have now is really fun, more track than we have space in basement.......
You would love Seattle, it's different from San Francisco, but you'd love it. The music scene here is really good, no shortage of venues or great folks to go out and play with.

sliced....battered....deep fried......heaven.....
Diced up and scrambled with eggs on a cast iron skillet over an open camp fire outside the tent for breakfast on a chilly mountain morning with a boiling hot cup of fireside percolated coffee to wash it all down before taking a 30 minute hike to your favorite off the grid fishing hole.
And for dinner that night if you didn’t catch any fish another can of Spam was diced up and mixed with Kraft Mac and Cheese and doused with Tabasco sauce. That’s some fond memories for me.

Hearing that I'm jealous of Seattle vs SF at this point (at least as a musician) - and yes, that's the car. I remember being really attracted to the 24 hrs of Lemons when they initially competed. Knowing nothing I just thought they were so cool with the air-foil and fighting to succeed. For all its faults (double entendre) I love living in the Bay Area but my future points toward Portland ~ ... I'd rather be... (potentially in Seattle?...) we'll see what the future has in store.

Well, just heard tonight that our lead singer is quitting. He didn't want to do single set gigs. I put one on the table and he quit. Don't let the door hit you in the $%^&&*() on the way out.
Always keep these four words front & center and use them as a guide - Life Is Too Short.

We had both R&T and Car and Driver. And Cycle World.

Really hate to hear that. But seems he was a something of a challenge from the start. The band sounds great and there's no reason why a good singer wouldn't want to join. But maybe have your daughter give him/her an evaluation before you sign them up.
Don't have her do the rest of the band. We know how that will go. ;)

At times, maybe most times, the people aspect can be the biggest challenge in playing music. You can often fix a song and make it work, but you can't do that with people that have egos and are immature--and don't notice neither.

It must be the season...we had to have a serious talk with our drummer after the last gig, and now the keyboard player in my cover band has given notice. I don't blame him, but it will be tough to find a replacement.

Ouch! Must be the season. Our church is considering moving our membership to sister church nearby. We have had several discussions and at the last meeting we met the worship leader. Nice guy, but everyone on our team came away with the exact same impression of him. Rigid and overly strong convictions on things that don't require that level of conviction. Since our worship team will become the WT there, that's a concern. We are all very laid back, like being around each other and tension is not a thing when we are together.
He's a young dude and has heard ideas about how to do things and seems to think his conclusions are the right/only way to do them. How is came off anyway. Maybe he hasn't yet run into enough healthy pushback that comes with experience. Who knows. but we're wondering if he will be a challenge, and if one worth living with. To the point I asked my counterpart at the other church if we were all wrong in what we picked up and how well is received there and does he get along with others well. The WL mentioned he had run into some hesitancy of getting others involved in their music or singing and we wondered if he might be some of the reason some may not be eager to try to serve in that way. We don't know, but if all five of us came away with the exact same vibe we're concerned we all can't be wrong. We can be, but it looks unlikely. As is I can see some on out team trying it for a while but not wanting stay with it if it's going to be uncomfortable. As I said, we enjoy doing music together and if it becomes "not fun" we might say, some won't stay with it.

I got an Aurora HO scale race car set for Christmas when I was in the 4th grade. It had a Lola GT and a Ford GT and a pretty cool track layout (lane changing, three level spiral, overpass and a hump jump). I sat cross legged on the floor for many an hour running those cars around the track with my friends. Great memories. Later on I got a Tyco set (not built as sturdy but the cars were a lot faster). I still have a lot of it in boxes that I haven’t opened in 50 years. Fun times.
Aurora Model Motoring. Had the contollers that looked like little chrome steering wheels.
Dad built a setup that covered a 4×8 sheet of plywood and hinged up against the basement wall. Whole family got into it.

I had the Batmobile, and Green Hornet's Black Beauty.

Happy memories.
