Thunderbird Club

It actually came first IIRC.
Did Casey Jones get his own spinoff as well? I seem to (vaguely) remember a theme song.
We had both R&T and Car and Driver. And Cycle World.
Wheels magazine here. Got a subscription for my 10th birthday. Which I kept going until I was about 30yo, give or take a few years.
I also started collecting the sister magazine Sports Car World, and the British Car magazine.
Storage became a problem and I ended up getting rid of them. Gave them away from memory.

I know @godofthunder59 had a chance to play the new edition of the Thunderbird, has anyone else thus far? If so, thoughts, pros & cons perhaps?

Also, in many pickup questions; the 2015 Decola pickups vs the TB. I'm aware the 2015 birds you had switches for full hum/split coil option, & they're alnico 5 vs ceramic of TB+, how would you class them in relation to every other Bird pickup (60s OG & RI, TB+, 915 70's Bicent repro, Decola). My thoughts would be from "darkest" to "brightest":

TB+ ceramic, Decola/2015, 60s, 70's (the last 2 i may be wrong, i've never played original 60's or 70's birds, though my 60s RI pickups are definitely brighter than my TB+ set).

& speaking of, comparisons of the 60's pickups to the 70's pickups? Sidewind + series wiring for the 70's birds, vs traditional wind + parallel wiring for 60's birds, anyone ever wire one to match the other & rule out wiring variable & stick to how the pickups construction differ?

He’s pretty good, but at the end of the day, you guys can do without the drama. You’ll find someone. The other guys seem to be easier to get along with. Would the girl from Beat Street be interested? Although maybe not quite the right songs and maybe too far from the rest of you? You guys are a good core….
nah, not Susan's thing.....maybe Bond Girl?....

I don’t know the song at all, was never a big Rush fan. But for a three person band with only two people playing (the guitar and drummer) it sure sounds like there’s a backing band or at the very least a bass track they are playing with. I was always under the impression that one of the magical things about Rush is how full they can sound for a mere three piece group.
I don’t know the circumstances behind that vid. Sound check? They are carrying a keyboardist on the tour. But it does sound like a bass guitar track in the vid.

To my ears, the ‘15 pickups in full humbucker mode are very close the to the vintage reissues. At their core, I believe they are pretty much the same pickups. I have Thunderbirds with both. Although the 15’s are wound hotter. EQing on the amp can make them sound pretty much the same played through a Mesa M6 Carbine, a Mesa TT800, and an SVT reissue.

No. That was well before. I need to research the history to see if there’s a connection.

I’m spending more time on nostalgia rather than keeping track of the current events. My therapist suggested it…..
Casey Jones used to drive ? the Cannonball Express right up to Petticoat Junction in that show.

No and if they did, it wouldn't matter if the bass had an issue!

Well there you go. I’m pretty sure that they used the Pixley neme for the big town, because of the town Pixley in Tulare County CA. It’s a small town in Southern Tulare County, not far from the Kern County line. To this day, it is still very rural.

I'm watching this vid, something you might like. Being the road-dog that I am (as a life-long cyclist and motorcyclist), it's a tempting road to ride. However.., 6.5% grade is not bad - it's the elevation!

Ha! It’s in the cue. I’m currently watching the old Disney Annette show. So many memories from my childhood coming back.

But they have a keyboard player now so Geddy doesn’t have to handle keys and bass.

All at once? o_O
