Thunderbird Club

I wonder who got blamed for that!
I remember that. It was pretty sad. While I wasn’t a fan, I felt sorry for her more than anything. She was having vocal problems as the result of an arduous schedule and should have cancelled the appearance. But it was a huge break to get the gig. Someone on her team convinced her it would be ok to use the track. Then the wrong song was cued and she lost it. It wasn’t like she was pulling a Milli Vanilli. JMO, but I think the reaction was way overblown. She has certainly paid the price for making the mistake over her career.

Never heard of her, but really hate that. Would explain a vocal track. Not sure why all the instruments were going, but possibly it was just easier. Lord knows bands even with no chords have been playing for years. But do hate it for her. Would have been a good idea to just state the reason right then at the time and saved a fair amount of backlash. But hindsight is pretty effective even for most people.

My daughter was 12 or 13 back then. So Britney, Christina, Ashlee, Fergie, and the other Pop Tarts were what we heard from her room. Couldn’t help but know who they were. She is still very much into music. But her tastes are much more discerning now.

Not new, but a drummer friend and I were talking about using backing tracks (not us).

When your "live" performance doesn't match you track...

In the early days of Countdown (a weekly National Pop show) they would strictly enforce the recorded music + live vocals rule.
Of course some bands would fight it and risk being banned by the show.
Bon Scott would add to the vocals with ohs and ahhh and the like (he did live anyway) but one of the most obvious was Red Symons of Skyhooks - when they did the close up of his guitar solo, he took his hands from his guitar. They hurriedly switched to another camera!
Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil famously butted heads with the show as well.
I think a lot were relieved when videos became more commonplace.

Thinking of something like a dark blue metallic. One is darker but ai made it look black.

Granted and needless to say (for me - I was speaking facetiously if you couldn't tell ) - Fender's off-the-back attempt to reel in now what they have historically ignored over decades is laughable. The clique example is attempting to put the Jeinie back in the bottle - a little late chums...
I admit I wasn’t sure but my reply was intended as a compassionate “don’t worry” if you couldn’t tell. With that said, if it weren’t for Leo Fender’s patent, there might not have been Gibson’s Les Paul, PAF pickups, the SG, the Flying V, Explorer, Firebird Reverse, Firebird NR. Thunderbird Reverse, Thunderbird NR, and the ES body shapes.

Yah, sometimes when things get too complicated - it won't turn out well...

No worries - Sometimes unless someone uses the ;) or :) emoji it can be difficult to read the intent. I and any others like me are beyond small potatoes in the grand scheme of all things corporate. It's biz's like Lull and others who do 'more or less' FSO/GSO etc. Then there's other major guitar brands who's look is different enough but use 3 single-coil pu's like a Strat and if this litigation is allowed can be "run out of town". That's just wrong and it's a blatant power money grab attempt by a mega-corporation. Personally I feel that if Corporate Fender keeps pushing - they will lose everything they established for the players who supported them for decades - and that sucks.

fretless can be so incredibly cool...

Absolutely love the clean crisp looks of a fretless. For the type of music I play I really don’t find them that much more difficult to play than a fretted bass (I rely a little less on muscle memory and a bit more on sight). They also offer a nice warm smooth blooming sound to the mix. Had two fretless basses in my line up, a NR Tbird build I did with Eppi 760ProBuckers in true 1966 locations and an Eastwood EUB style Scroll bass with a single TB+ pickup…

I’ve since flipped the NR back to fretted and do all my fretless playing on the Eastwood, that TB+ pickup with LB Black Tapes just sounds so right for a fretless vs the slightly thinner sounding NR pickups.

I would look into current automotive colours. I've seen some really cool deep/rich blues on BMW's and Porsches lately.
Lots of beautiful blues in the Porsche line up. Here’s a complete blue run down…

Quick, somebody help Marshall, he’s gonna go into blue overload!

While not really problem solving, Occam's razor comes to mind. One can see how the summary, entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity can have application to your point. More stuff going on--more stuff can and will go wrong.
