Thunderbird Club

Don't know anyone who does custom basses- but then I would have a custom Explorer model made- and I might break with clean fretboard standard by having runic symbols for the G, A, B , C#, and E positions

But regarding a headless fretless five I have considered this one-

I admit I wasn’t sure but my reply was intended as a compassionate “don’t worry” if you couldn’t tell. With that said, if it weren’t for Leo Fender’s patent, there might not have been Gibson’s Les Paul, PAF pickups, the SG, the Flying V, Explorer, Firebird Reverse, Firebird NR. Thunderbird Reverse, Thunderbird NR, and the ES body shapes.
Leo’s patent?

Thanks, both are. One is a GM color. I have a Ford in the cart as well. Those have caught my attention when searching for dark metallic blues. One I liked at first was a Toyota, but have since found others I prefer. I'll look into the BMW's and Porsche options. Fitting for such an expensive bass! :smug:
Coincidentally I saw a nice dark blue on a new/ish Corolla this morning.

Agreed, but we think in terms of art. Many think of it as business, so whatever is most efficient wins.

We were working on an Eagles tune the other day and our singer said someone had analyzed concert recordings finding that the waveforms were identical from one Eagles concert to the next. I haven't had a chance to look into that - don't know if it was the current "Eagles" or an earlier version.
Yeah. That's "Wings of Pegasus".(on YT) He analyses 'live' performances.

So as I’ve mentioned, my mountain place is on top of the San Andrea. I should put together a two to to three week survival food kit. But having bears around makes that dangerous.
A quick trip to Costco and you’ll have everything you need in the way of bear proof food supplies.

One of these…

And a dozen jugs of water, a dozen cans of spam, a dozen tins of sardines, a dozen packs of Idahoan instant mashed potatoes and a boatload of canned soup and stew and fruit cocktail.

Do all your food prep, cooking and eating outside your home, don’t bring any leftovers into the house and keep the trash as far from the home as you can get it.

That is a very cool looking bass! Would be even more awesome if it had a neck attachment design that would allow you to pop the neck off and on without any tools or a hidden hinge and cam lock design so the whole thing would come apart or fold up to fit in a carry on bag. I bet @JIO could build or mod one for you.

Here’s San Marino Blue, a BMW color that can be purchased for Porsche cars as well…

IMHO it would make a stunning bass body color, even more so on an arch top or some other non slab body where the contours would let the highlights pop.
Or a full relief Thunderbird!

Absolutely love the clean crisp looks of a fretless. For the type of music I play I really don’t find them that much more difficult to play than a fretted bass (I rely a little less on muscle memory and a bit more on sight). They also offer a nice warm smooth blooming sound to the mix. Had two fretless basses in my line up, a NR Tbird build I did with Eppi 760ProBuckers in true 1966 locations and an Eastwood EUB style Scroll bass with a single TB+ pickup…

I’ve since flipped the NR back to fretted and do all my fretless playing on the Eastwood, that TB+ pickup with LB Black Tapes just sounds so right for a fretless vs the slightly thinner sounding NR pickups.
that NR is striking! would love to try it in its fretless form...

Thanks I looked up his page and found it. Two different performances of Desperado 6 months apart have the same vocal audio.
The software he's using shows the pitch on a graph. Having used a version of that, I agree there's no other explanation.
I'd be upset if I spent big $ to see a band like the Eagles and found out they were lip synching.

Earl: "What did you do this weekend?"
Bob: "The little lady and I paid $400 for tickets and another $200 for a hotel to see the Eagles pretending to sing and play their music. Sounded great. Just like the record. Beer was $15 each."

Pitch perfect!

It would funny if a band deliberately sang out of key for a bit just to prove that they were truly singing live-

I recall the The Monkees TV episode where Mike Nesmith sabotages Bobby Sherman's lip sync by speeding up and slowing down the record player when they were recording a performance scene for a faux beach movie.

Thanks Chucky - the same folks offered a discount when I was watching it on eBay. I wrote them and declined because I was going out of town and would not be around for the arrival. They were gracious and kind enough to extend the offer again should I choose to go with it in the future.

I'm still not 100 percent decided though- there's a Sadosky MetroExpress fretless five on Reverb for a little less money that looks beautiful-

Not compact but the real reason is because I didn't want to take my boutique fretless five strings on distant trips and sojourns in hotels, one of which is irreplaceable-

What would you do?
