Thunderbird Club

I feel like I make a post everytime I play a gig, but I just love this bass so much. The sound is just perfect for my band. I’ve always been a finger player, but there’s a few songs I have been using a pick on, and the tone is just killer with these pickups.

It was a wet show! We had a nice tent, but were playing on a sloped parking lot. The rain was running right across the stage. The rugs were so saturated, we were splashing with every step we took. Great crowd that helped us forget about the crappy parts of the job.

Forgot to mention, that was the best dang margarita I have ever had. No idea what they used to make it, but it hand a sprig of mint in it, and it was just perfect. Kinda reminded me of a mint julip mixed with a lime margarita.

Now I'm thirsty...

We were all quite nervous. We really pushed the venue to cancel, but they didn't seem to care and we had a signed contract. Next time we know to put contract language in that we need an elevated stage in the event of wet ground

We did have all the subs and mains on pallets, and made sure all electrical connection points were elevated. Still a little nerve wracking though.
Might make me violate the contract citing safety issues. Maybe for next time see if there are laws about that. I dunno, OSHA?

Can't even picture it.

I know! That's a '64 that came into the shop this week, refinned by Mike Lull into a slightly aged condition..........The neck was pretty sweet, I just don't heve the big "F" gene, all good, it'll go to a good home.

We even have 2 electrical engineers in the band. You’d think they would know haha. But they were just as nervous as me about playing the gig.

Well kinda sorta. I had Irv make up a decal for my ThunderCaster bass that I specifically designed to tick off both the Tbird and Fender die hards. A backwards facing Tbird logo with a bold Fender “F” emblazoned on its chest, and on a Tort guard just to mess with folks in this club…

Installed on a Gibby Tbird Non Reverse bass fitted with all Fender spec components (neck, tuners, pickups, bridge, ashtray, neck plate, knobs, pots, strap pins and every screw and bolt)…

Just pretend you’re playing Woodstock.

We know you’d never defect.
But good to know your basses as you are now selling them.
Nice refin too.

Purple ‘76 came to work with me today, not wired like Green one, not wired like George’s schematic

Being a big fan of my TBird's neck, I just don't 'get' a 7enderbird.:wacky:
Oh, well. Tweetchie zone.
To clarify, I've been playing my 67 since 73. I'm used to its neck. I played a J once. It was OK and I'm fairly certain I could get used to it if needed, but I'm happy with it as is. I s'pose if one is used to the feel of a J neck but like the look/sound/ergos/ whatever of a 'Bird, that's fine. But for me, it's not the answer to any question I've ever had.
