Thunderbird Club

Right?

Aside from maybe getting Geo to work on something, and maybe something from North guitars if I can talk him into it, my last Thunderbird could well be a commissioned Brooks. Rob’s work is amazing. But I do need to thin out the flock a bit. Unfortunately, the clock keeps ticking and I’m not getting any younger.
Seems to me getting some space cleared and funds raised would be a pretty simple idea. Just a matter of how much you want to be put in the position of being a 12-string bass player.
I think of a Chapman Stick, and consider how much I'm willing to commit to that. It would mean having a Stick and one bass, and one amp.
I'd have to start gigging with it, that would be part of the deal. For me it's an issue of "do you have the cojones you think you do?", and testing it! I'll do that- but also it'll have to actually work for me. It's kind of a dare.

A couple hours jamming with the Dead keeps me humble, but sure is fun — even though Mexicali Blues and Me and My Uncle leave me in the dust.
Also, it turns out a red Greco Thunderbird through a compressor, eq, Super 800 and Rumble 100, played with a pick, can help get really close to Phil’s tone.
Pretty sure the tie dye helps, too.

After reading the book about the wall of sound, I’m becoming more of a Dead Head.

A Texas A and M tiedye.

Lord, how times have changed!

Did you hear the Aggie homecoming queen died? She choked while grazing on the astroturf.

That doesn’t go over well in College Station. :roflmao:
Most of the Aggie jokes I know were told by Aggies themselves.

Dad, two uncles from Mom's side of the family.

Including my uncle Les, who taught there for 25, 30 years!

A new Non-Reverse Thunderbird was born today:

Wow! Fantastic!

I just got a Gibson Reissue Tbird p'up, and ran across this. I kinda like the TB+ a little better, but for the present purpose I'm good with the reissue going into a project...

Based on this A/B - the T-bird + has more definition.

Interesting. I’ve always felt the TB+ pickups were warmer than the Reissues, which sound cleaner and more defined. Turns out that pretty much holds true throughout the demonstrations.

Kinda makes me want to drop some TB+ pups into cans and put them in my BaCH Bluebird in place of the stock Altec pups.

There you go! I felt the opposite! :) :bassist: That's why we're lucky to have choices!
