you got a deal, I paid that for a brand new Bicen (79) in 82.....I didn't read the copy. My '64 II w/OHSC was that clean when I bought it in '78 for $750. It doesn't sound like a Jazz bass either.![]()

Work from home does offer the chance to enjoy a bit music.................
I'll never tire of this song, Fraser is still a teenager, so much "air" in this song and a brilliant bass solo, pure Gibson EB-3 bliss.
I know where that is. We could organize a raiding party and "liberate" that poor, captive bass.A little day trading and poof! There you are, owner of a vintage Thunderbird.
Ok, maybe not.

And Alembic…JBL baby!
I only listened to that on the iPad. Not much diffence to my ears. The pluses had a touch of Stingrayness in that video.Admittedly, I just listened to the YouTube clip on my iPad. It might be completely different when played thru one of my bass cabs.
Just wrapped up a quick side by side comparison of the Gibby NR Reissue with stock reissue pups, a ‘64 Reissue Eppi with stock pups and the 2012 Eppi CP with TB+ pups (same locations as the ‘64). All with nickel rounds. Thanks for the clarification on those years. Wonder how many years had that PU location? Those also had the Gibson Pus, correct?
Mostly for @MCF, but may apply to others:
Proof positive that even though we all like the same bass, we don't all like the same tone.
My first bass was a 66 Gibson EB-3. I never wanted-or got-a tone anything like Fraser's. To me, it's almost in "J" territory (ducks the slings/arrows/rotten produce).
Tweetchie zone.
His playing-on all their stuff I've heard-was excellent. We did "All Right Now" in one band I was in (mostly on keys and sax) and I used my EB-3 (coulda used the 'regular' bassist's Ric-tried it, didn't like it). I only used the bridge p'up on the interlude section 'til the verse came back in, then back to the 'bucker. He's def working the Mini Humbucker at the bridge and EQing the amp accordingly, I can get there with my EB-3 and the Marshall clone - It's not a "go to" tone for me either, but it is what he did, and how many songs have a bass solo like that going on - I can't think of too many.
I like them a lot too. Especially the set in the ‘05 Studio.I have been a fan of TB+ pickups for pretty much ever. They don't get the credit they deserve.
Yep.Priced accordingly. Owning an original ain't happening.
Not necessarily. At some point, the 67NR will up for grabs-for a helluva lot less than $21.5. And with the Coffin(TM) case!Yep.
That’s about $2500 today for that Bicentennial. Try finding an unmolested one in almost new condition for anything close to that today.you got a deal, I paid that for a brand new Bicen (79) in 82.....
also proof positive that EQ and tone knobs play a huge role.....can't believe it keeps coming up... past tweetchie at this point....Proof positive that even though we all like the same bass, we don't all like the same tone.

And he leads by example! As Scott says" "Life is short, buy the bass "
I’m pretty sure Rob doesn’t only make 12 strings.Seems to me getting some space cleared and funds raised would be a pretty simple idea. Just a matter of how much you want to be put in the position of being a 12-string bass player.
I think of a Chapman Stick, and consider how much I'm willing to commit to that. It would mean having a Stick and one bass, and one amp.
I'd have to start gigging with it, that would be part of the deal. For me it's an issue of "do you have the cojones you think you do?", and testing it! I'll do that- but also it'll have to actually work for me. It's kind of a dare.
Roger that.A Texas A and M tiedye.
Lord, how times have changed!
