Thunderbird Club

I just got a Gibson Reissue Tbird p'up, and ran across this. I kinda like the TB+ a little better, but for the present purpose I'm good with the reissue going into a project...

Very cool.
This is close to the difference between a CP and a 64 Epi. The CP definitely holds down the bottom end better but the 64 has more on the top.
FWIW, Thunderbuckers do both well but still have gheir own voice.
Meanwhile, I pick the bass that fits the music of the moment.

On a tangent (what, here?) I don’t much care for that color on a Thunderbird. But the pg being the same color makes it decent, imo.

Interesting. I’ve always felt the TB+ pickups were warmer than the Reissues, which sound cleaner and more defined. Turns out that pretty much holds true throughout the demonstrations.

Kinda makes me want to drop some TB+ pups into cans and put them in my BaCH Bluebird in place of the stock Altec pups.
It would be interesting to have a TB+/RI pair snuggled together on a II (or two pair on a IV) to see how the tones combine.

So how about it Chucky? I've seen a number of your posts featuring home-made culinary delights. Will you consider tackling this one? If so, please DM me a slice. Oh wait, 3D ovens haven't been invented yet ...

Funny thing about bass sound. I hate the sound of the Jackson 5-string by itself. But it sounds really good in a mix. Go figure. There are a couple songs that make my left thumb hurt when I play them on the fiver. Time to learn a new technique to solve that problem. I'm liking that part of it. Beats me what I'm going to do with this bass when I leave the band I got it for. That's going to happen the second week of August. Two more shows and I'm out. The music is fun but the nonsense isn't my thing.

I'm looking at my band for musical reasons. The energy doesn't get to where it should. A couple of us tend to drag. Very bad for a rock band.
I'm going to feel like a heel for leaving. The drummer, we think, is having health concerns- part of my thinking is I don't want to push him, he's had heart surgery. The rest of us talked about it without him, and are in agreement.
Ah, but the other night our singer tried to push the set a little long when we were supposed to take a break- which the drummer had asked for previously. We all let her play solo for a couple.
Bands. Can't live with em, can't shoot em... 🤪

I'm glad we're not so alone after all... 😃
USA, AUS, Sth Africa.
The car pictured in the Sth Af version is an Australian Holden sent in packs for assembly in Sth Af. The alternative styling (grille basically in this one) was done in Aus and a lot of them used the Chevy 230 and 250 ci 6’s, some the Holden 308 V8, and the top Constantia used the Chev 350 and may (I’m not 100% sure) have been fully imported from Australia! That one also went various places like NZ, Indonesia, Thailand as Chevy 350 but not Australia! 🤣
It was a new brand “Statesman” with an Olds style front here, Chev having been recently removed from our country - temporarily as it turned out.
