Thunderbird Club

I find the EY "Chinabuckers" a bit clearer and articulate. They sound like a Thunderbird to me, but I don't have a 60s Bird to compare,
I don't have a bass with Thunderbuckers either, so I can't compare to them. I got my pickup rings with the pickups, but bought spacers from Thunderbucker ranch. You may find you need spacers as the EY pickups are quite shallow.

I have some Ken Smith Bass Burner strings on order, which will allow a better comparison of the Thunderbucker with the Chinabucker. Until then ...

The Thunderbucker definitely has more output than the Chinabucker (and I have the 9K2Ω in the neck position). Compared to the Thunderbucker, the Chinabucker is sort of 'polite' - missing a bit of top end, articulation and snarl.

Is this where we post a reminder that this particular sub-forum of TalkBass is an accepting non-judgmental space where we don't shame people because of their ethnicity, skin tone, gender, sexuality, shape, size, dress, or our personal perceptions/preconceptions of 'morality'?

I believe it is...

But speaking about the "pneumatic" woman - Is that even a woman? She looks more like a sheboy to me...

We do prefer Thunderbird tone to skin tone (I have never even seen a skin bass)
We do show some bias against certain shapes - 7ender shapes.

Also had him take a look at the pickups to see what they are and what if any info he could provide on them. If anyone recalls before I bought this bass I'd posted asking if anyone knew anything about the pickups, how they sound etc. @hillerup has one and was helpful, thought I'd post this up just to add to the hive knowledge base. Photo below including a note the luthier added.

Although I don't have a measured reading on the output, I CAN say that these suckers are HOT. Probably the hottest, loudest passive pickups I have on anything I own. Since there are no obvious pole pieces I'm guessing they're a bar type pickup but really don't know much more than the note attached to the photo. Just thought I'd share for anyone interested.

I guess these are what is in my Silverburst Epi bird...yes, they are hot and they sound really cool but I don't have any other types of bird pickups to compare them to. I'm almost ready to get Thunderbuckers in my 5 string Pro and I'm hoping to buy one of the new Epi vintage pros as well. Curious to hear the differences.

I put them in my 08 Gibson TBird. I like them a lot better than the stock Gibson TBird+ pickups that I took out of that bass (which didn't sound as good to me as the TB+s in my Les Paul Double Cut Bass or my ES 335 Bass- I quite like the guitar pickup shaped TB+s).

I have the guitar sized TB+ in a couple of basses and really like them. Seem to have a more aggressive (and maybe clearer) output. Here is a comparison that has been posted before:

Yeah... I know when I'm lookin' for the marryin' type, I always keep my eyes toward the side of the road, watchin' for a trashy bimbo spreadin' her legs across the front of a cop car. You can always trust them to exercise good judgment and morality;)

I like the bad girls, but then again I married a girl that is a good girl. Irony is pretty ironic

The intention of the photo was unquestionably to provoke a response. Mine may not be the same as others, but it was honest. It's important to note that I did not and would not post a remark about the first 7 items in your list. Nor did I impose my feelings on anyone else. I made a light hearted remark based on my personal observations and/or experiences with scantly clad people who might be inclined to "display" themselves on the hood of a police car along side the road in front of a camera. I'll withdraw the word "bimbo" because, historically it has been a gender specific term that implies ignorance (for all I know, she could could be a doctor or a lawyer or something). For your benefit, I will also strike the term "morality". I stand by the rest of it. My response should have received considerably less of a response than the actual photo, as it was nothing more than a light-hearted sarcastic quip that was unoffensive to anyone... with the exception perhaps, of someone who willingly poses or has posed for similar photos. It's probably pretty safe to assume that even they would've done nothing more than wrinkle their noses and think an FU my way. As I said... the photo was posted to provoke a response. It got mine. Much ado about nothing.

Didn't mean to start a poop storm, just trying to make a joke. I will just delete it and call it a day. Wasn't looking for drama, apologize if I did

What got my attention was that there were two of the same picture. I thought it might be a PG version of the newspaper puzzle where you have to find the differences between two cartoons. And, I still don't get a date with either one, because I say neither of those amps. Besides, she would undoubtedly be thoroughly disappointed, and I would hate to do that to her. Either of her.
